Going to buy an XDJ-RX2 and been thinking how to use the AUX as a 3rd input since it's only 2 channels. I have an iPad Pro and hoping I could connect it or my phone through the RX2 AUX to layer in acapella tracks, samples, the odd streaming request, and have as a general backup device just in case.
With a standard 3.5mm to RCA cable, I read on some forums that consumer electronics like phones and iPads have a weak signal that will give you low volume even if you jack up the AUX level on the RX2 controls.
What are people's experience with this? Solutions you've found?
I thought about the Traktor Audio 2, but I think that only works with Traktor DJ and not algoriddim djay or other general audio apps?
This article recommended buying something like the Radial ProAV2, a passive A/V direct box (non-powered), to convert the iPad headphone jack signal to regular line level for pro audio. Would that work? I realize the AUX input on the RX2 is RCA so might need to convert from XLR?
Or would a cheaper powered mini mixer like this Rolls MX51S Mini Mix 2 work and still give a proper clean signal without distortion / blowing up my RX2?
I'm kinda new to all this audio engineering stuff with signal levels. Any input is appreciated, thanks guys!
