DJM-450 External Recorders

Hi all,

Looking for some guidance on buying an external recorder to connect to my  DJM-450.

I don't have an iphone so can't use the new REC app from pioneer. Any alternatives on this matter?

I'm looking around the 100euro mark to invest.

If you have any other suggestion let me know. :)

Could someone please also state how to connect this external recorder to my DJM-450.

I've tried searching on youtube and on google but can't really see how to connect or  what audio signal the recorder will record from my DJM-450.

Thanks for helping out!

Are you using rekordbox with it, because you can record with that.  Otherwise you would have to connect to the RCA master output, or use a DI box between the mixer and recorder maybe one with a volume pad on it to control the output levels.

Hi Jay,

I'm not using recordbox.

Currently the master out 2 is connected by RCA to my speakers, so thats why i'm not sure how to connect the output to a recorder.

Should i buy other cables for my speakers so master output number 2 is free to connect to an external recorder?

I have S-DJ50X pioneer speakers and i see master 1 output is XLR, would connecting these pioneer speaker with an XLR cable be a good solution?

As far as I can tell from Google and this forum, the only option for recording mixes from DJM 450 is as follows:

  • If you have a computer/laptop with an Intel processor, use the free version of Rekordbox in export mode, with the DJM 450 connected via USB and selected as audio input within the 'Audio' tab of Rekordbox's settings.

If you don't use Rekordbox, or don't have a laptop/PC with an Intel processor, you will not be able to record mixes with clean/uninterrupted sound

This to me is very disappointing, and Pioneer do not seem to be very forthcoming with any alternative solutions or advice

@CentralMassif > Entirely untrue; you can record over the USB to ANY audio software that can support an ASIO driver.
