EFX-1000 into DJM mixer via EFX Link - cable

Hey. i've just bought an ebay efx1000 and it didnt have the EFX link cable to it.

Can i use a midi lead like this - https://cpc.farnell.com/unbranded/fc-06-3m/8-pin-mini-din-pl-to-pl-lead-3m/dp/AV08542 & does the cable enable send return from any channel when plugged into to a DJM mixer.

I only have the DDJ-1000 at home and can only get it to work on the master so would be useful to know that i can do what i need to if i take it to a club with a standard pioneer mixer / cdj setup

Cheers

The EFX-1000 will work best when set up as a send/return unit.  The midi in/out is for working with a sequencer and the EFX Link is for use with the DJM-1000. 4 x 1/4" cables can be used to set up the send/return.

Thanks Jay - EFX link is a send and return too (only with the djm 1000?)

and is it the same as that midi lead above?

Any tips or thoughts on using it with a ddj-1000 and another soundcard at home for send return on select deck (i know its not an option but just wondered if you had any suggestions other than master as currently trying different routing into ableton)

It's similar, but a priority cable set up.  The way the MIDI set up is for a sequencer to be involved.  I have always just done send and return and done and it's an awesome piece to use!

i dont understand how it works but from the manual it seemed to suggest it is a send and return with one cable instead of 4, and from your reply it seems to suggest it is for a midi sequencer - so just checking. I will buy one of the 8 pin connectors if it will fit an do the send and return, but can't see how it would work with my  ableton. the normal send and return would be ideal when i can play on a mixer that does that - thanks again. P.s i understand the normal send / return method too.

The EFX-LINK cable was a proprietary cable for use with the DJM-1000 (only product to feature that connection, sadly), and it would manage the S/R audio through that one cable.

When using the EFX with a DDJ-1000, your best configuration will be post-master-output, but if you have access to a DJM that has a send/return, you should use that with two pairs of TS cables to the mixer.
