If the database is on the external, you don't need to "Move" it, you need to select that as the source. Is the drive visible to the new computer?
My laptop recently broke and I bought a new one. On my previous laptop my external hard drive was set up as the master database on rekordbox. I have just downloaded rekordbox on my new laptop. When I go to preferences and 'move database' my drive is not there on the drop down list and I have no idea why, any ideas?

Yes, it is visible. How do I select it as the source?
bump
Check that the database in the external drive has not been accidentally moved/deleted.
In the rekordbox tree view double click on 'explorer' > is your external drive visible? double click on it > now you should be able to see a 'pioneer' folder in the external drive > double click on 'pioneer' folder > is there a 'master' folder inside?
What do you do next after this step ^^^
