Using Rekordbox, XDJ-RX2, DJS-1000, Drum Machines and Synths

I was highly considering purchasing the DJS-1000 to use almost alongside my XDJ-RX2. I’m trying to find a way to sync the master tempo from one track out to the DJS-1000 from rekordbox. Is this possible? Some options might be direct control from rekordbox to the djs 1000 or an output of the midi tempo from the rekordbox software to another usb midi device such as a synthesizer which can control the djs 1000 bpm via master to slave midi connection. Is this possible under export? I’m trying to sync my arpeggios from my synths to my xdj rx2 master track tempo via rekordbox connectivity and midi tempo information output ideally. This then can easily incorporate control of the djs-1000 if it takes midi tempo information. It also makes all rekordbox compatible devices highly expandable. If this functionality isn’t currently there is there 3rd party software to output midi tempo from the master track tempo?

@Matthew > Currently neither the RX2 nor rekordbox can transmit that data, but another device which could translate the audio signal to determine the tempo (such as a DJM) and then output that information as a MIDI signal (or in the case of the DJM; ProDJ Link) would be the solution. Obviously not ideal, but one of the few work-arounds available at this time.

We're expecting future updates to rekordbox will include Ableton Link and possibly a direct integration for a DJS-1000 so it can sync and be used in performance.

Thanks!

Thank you for the quick reply. Ableton link will definitely do the trick, but that djs 1000 link sounds amazing. A lot could be done with both of those updates. I am coming from a background of synth EDM production, and was dipping my finger into pioneer dj equipment with the XDJ-RX2 which I found super impressive, but a midi link is a major sticking point. Can the DJM mixers link an XDJ-RX2 and CDJs through a switch hub? Then be used to connect to midi equipment? For instance could I get 6 tracks synced if I went that route (2 on XDJ and 4 on DJM using CDJ)?

I’m all about expansion abilities. So the capability to sync 6 tracks and midi hook up sounds amazing.

Still leaning towards buying the DJS-1000 as it appears the tempo can be controlled via external midi, and it also has what appears to be bpm analyses of an incoming audio (depending on BPM clarity in the song). The only feature that seems like it would not be capable of without link is automatic tempo adjustment when slowing or speeding the track tempo (which the Ableton link may create a workaround). Is there any other features I wouldn’t have access to without the pro dj link?

Correct; the tempo source can come from a variety of places.

I believe the only other thing you'd miss out on would be the ability to load content from a linked USB source.

As all other threads relating to djs-1000 synching with rekordbox are closed... I wanted to ask if it was possible (or will be) to live sample from a pfl (headphone monitored) channel of rekordbox? For example take samples from a the next track up in the mix while it is being cued for example ready for execution when the track is playing?

@Nick > If you're cutting a sample in rekordbox to the sampler, yes. To an external source like the DJS, no.
