DJM-3000 channel issue

I use my DJ gear rarely. It's always in the studio. I never take it away from home. Last time I mixed was a couple of weeks ago and it was working fine. Today I was trying to mix with the same setup as the last time using my CMX-3000 and DJM-3000 and noticed the following issue for the first time:

CD Deck 1 was assigned to mixer channel 2 (line 3)

CD Deck 2 was assigned to mixer channel 3 (line 5)

1. I start playing on deck 1 with zero volume on mixer channel 2 (line 3). No sound is coming from monitor speakers (which are by the way connected to booth monitor outputs)

2. I increase the volume on channel 2 and sound starts coming from both left and right monitor speakers.

3. I decrease the volume on channel 2 to zero but sound keeps coming only from right speaker (why if volume level is zero?)

4. I increase the volume on channel 2 and sound comes from both speakers again

5. I decrease the volume on channel 2 to zero again and sound keeps coming only from right speaker (why if volume level is zero?)

6. When playing CD deck 2 on channel 3 (line 5) I get the right behaviour, I mean: I increase the volume and sound comes from both speakers and I decrease volume level to zero and sound does not come from monitor speakers

I performed the following testing:

1. Switched cd 1 input to mixer channel 2 line 4. Same behaviour

2. Switched speaker monitors connection to master output instead of booth monitor output. Same behaviour

3. Switched cd 1 input to mixer channel 1 line 1. Problem solved.

Conclusions so far:

Something is wrong with mixer channel 2 (affecting lines 3 and 4) that is causing that sound keeps coming from right monitor speaker even if the mixer channel 2 volume level is set to zero.

Any ideas about what the damage/problem might be? Any additional test I shall perform? Has this ever happened to you?

Kind regards

This is a known situation because the DJM-3000 had an add on rotary kit, so the faders can be removed easily.  If you unscrew the cover from the channel faders, you will most likely find that the channel giving you a problem is loose.  The fix is to remove and re-seat the fader, very easy job and shouldn't have any other problems.  I believe it's 4 screws to remove the cover and then 2 screws that hold the channel fader in place, again easy fix!

Thanks for your quick response. I just reviewed some documentation at pioneerelectronics.com and a YouTube video and it looks easy job as you said. I could see in the documentation that the fader seats on some pins. I don't understand how it could get loose but I'll remove and re-seat the fader as you suggested. I'll let you know the result. Kind regards
