DDJ-SB2 rant

Trying out RB 6 due to recent ver 5 issues - Why would I have to spend $100 a year just to be able to use a controller I bought for $250 years ago? Never saw much action to begin with, but now it's a paperweight :/

I've hardly used it since the clubs I work in have everything, but at the time I bought it, I think I was still using Serato for open format nights and Rekordbox w/ usb for everything else - so the attraction was I could use this for both if needed. Then I decided to switch to Rekordbox performance to avoid having to do everything 2x (analyze / cuepoints etc) - a massive undertaking since I had to recreate all of this in RB to match what I had in Serato at the time. Fast forward to now, when I just want something to mess around with at home and maybe teach my son on etc - RB 5 is not longer working properly on my mac and 6 requires a subscription making this not worthy of paying to use, and useless otherwise.

I work in a city with probably more working DJ's per capita than anywhere else and I am literally the only one I know of that uses your performance software - Pushing you're lone Vegas brand ambassador back to Serato seems a bit counter intuitive! lol

Frank,

If you purchased rekordbox 5, it will still work on all Macs, including running Monterey. You are not being forced to use rekordbox 6.

Hi Pulse. Thanks for your reply, but I'm not sure you read the post - I'm only using version 6 because of recent issues with 5.

Frank,

I understand that may be the case, but empirically, rb5 does work, and nobody is forcing you to use rekordbox - an application for which your SB2 was not designed / marketed / sold.

Pioneer sold a license to use SB2 w/ RB that worked seamlessly w/out having to re-map a single button - which I doubt was simply incidental - so I'm not sure why how it was marketed would make any difference. Regardless, I would think you would want to force (or at least encourage ;-) as many users as possible toward RB and away from SERATO

* If you can tell me why vers 5 is no longer displaying the contents of my i-tunes playlists, and how to fix we can call it even ;-)
