The CDJ-3000 will not work with rekordbox 5 as far as normal CDJs go (no HID mode), but as @Shade says, it may be possible to MIDI map some of the functions.

As long as the usb out is transmitting the required midi, which it should since it's compatible with 6.0 performance controllers, 5.0 shouldn't be a problem. And you can always remap midi with the "midi-learn" feature.
I'd recommend you check with your local dealer if they have one in stock, and will they let you take your laptop down and plug it in. If you plan on buying one, I can't see the dealer saying no if you buy from them that is. Which you probably should in that instance. Keep the $$ local.
