How Do I save hotcues on a USB stick?

Hey guys, I am new to Rekordbox, I was using Traktor Pro before.

Usually I scan and put the Hotcues on my tracks on my desktop and DJ on my Macbook. On Traktor, when I prepared my songs on the Desktop PC with colours and hotcues, those informations were saved directly in the music file on my USB stick, so I could use it instantly on the macbook.

Now in Rekordbox, those informations aren´t saved in the music files, only in Rekordbox on the Desktop PC, which i used for preparing. The tracks are completely blank on the macbook.

I will be very glad, if someone can explain me, what exactly I have to do, the other informations on google didn´t really help 😅

Thanks for your help! 😘

Hi Dennis,

With rekordbox, you would have imported the music to your collection from the source (whether it's on your internal hard drive or on a USB drive), then when you add hot cues (in rekordbox), they'll be added to the database. The hot cues are not stored on the songs themselves.

If you had already exported that song from your collection to a USB device, but added the hot cues later, simply re-export the song and now when you connect that USB drive to a player, the hot cues will be available.

Thanks for your answer! When I try to export, my USB stick is greyed out. I found out, that I must have the wrong filesystem. I have exFat. So I guess I have to format the stick. When I did this, I can put the tracks again on the stick and relocate the songs because the cue points are saved in my collection right? Or will the cue points will be gone then?

If that drive is not the source, yes - you can format to FAT32 and re-export them.
