For most issues, it's been found that Windows is the culprit; please follow the guide here to try and re-establish your ASIO drivers.
Today I tried using rekordbox dj as an emergency setup only with mouse and an external ASIO soundcard (or the build-in-soundcard of a mixer like the DJM 750 oder DJM 2000).
As soon as I select external mode in the audio tab in the preferences windows things start to act crazy. The whole preferences window freezes for a few seconds and then no audio device is selected. If I switch to another tab and then back to audio external mode and the soundcard (in my case I use a Rane SL-2) are correct selected, however, the channel assignment only allows to choose between " " (space) and "-" (dash).
If I stay in internal mode there a no freezes and I'm able to assign all channels without any issues - so I think there must be a bug with the external mode.
But I need the external mode... so can you please take a look at this and fix this bug?

Funny but I had the same / similar experience on 4.2.X on my friend's windows laptop this weekend.... On my macos it took 2-3 tries...
It took me about 10 tries to switch to the asio soundcard in the RB Perf mode.. It was jumping to default device, no audio device, internal mixing, external mixing here and there or the dropdown menu for selecting the soundcard was not responding at all.
When we finally made it to select the Audiohub (the connected asio soundcard), it switched to internal mixing again and switching it to external, reset the selected device back to no audio device selected so we had to start over...
It was very annoying and as said, it took about 10 tries before finding the right order so the device is not being constantly reset...
The same thing happens to me in Rekordbox, It takes me about 5 to 6 tries sometimes 10 or even more
to connect to my DJM-900NXS2 and CDJ2000NXS2 in RB performance mode and ASIO
this must be some kind of bug in RB 4.2.5 this didn't happen w/ RB 4.2.4
or earlier versions of RB, and one more thing, if I try to do to many things in RB at once RB will crash and lockup
I'm using a windows 10 pro PC HP notebook w/ an 7icore 512SSD and 24gb of ram
I find this problem very annoying for RB costing me $129.00 USD

went into device manager and got 6 driver DJM/CDJ drivers
had conflicts , and said it was disabled due to conflicts
enabled all drivers in windows...
updated all drivers, windows said they were the best drivers for the current products
fixed all of the conflicts with the windows PC drivers, now everything works fine
so far, no more waiting and re-tying to establish ASIO connections
Awesome - thanks for posting back @Dennis!
I followed the guide but it didn't help much.
The conflict seems to be with windows 10. The ASIO runs fine for the most part but when windows grabs a 'line in pioneer rzx' as a recording device, that's when things get confused and the ASIO doesn't let you to engage it again.
But does rzx need to grab 'line in' in windows? It should strictly use asio and that's it, no?!
So the whole integration with windows needs much more work. Over 90% of the world still uses windows...
@ragdoll > Why are you using non-ASIO device drivers for recording?
Its not me, its just that Pioneer's ASIO collides with the other Windows audio recording drivers.
Its really messy, in particular if you are using several recording devices on the same PC, that IS a problem. That's why so many people complain about this. A PC is not used just to drive the Pioneer controller. Switching between various playback and recording devices on the very same PC is hell on earth, and hence the twitchy behaviour enabling the Pioneer ASIO when coming from another source/driver.
If I would buy something today it would for sure NOT be anything PC/Mac based, but I'm stuck with what I have and I have spent lots of cash on a new PC as well, to no avail.
Thanks for continuing to improve this system. But time is of the essence.
@ragdoll > What is it you're trying to do?
When I start Rekordbox and power up the RZX it doesn't select the ASIO driver automatically; it defaults to windows speakers.
Next I have to select the RZX ASIO manually in >preferences>audio so I can start mixing.
I doesn't allow me to.
After 5-10 tries it lets me select the ASIO and I can start working.
I have the correct driver, the latest windows 10, powerful pc and all that, so its something else in the integration that's not right. Everything in device manager checks out, no triangle warnings.
I am pretty sure the problem is the interaction between windows audio and Rekordbox/RZX integration via USB interface.
How come this problem sometimes goes away when I switch USB port, and intermittently comes back?
What's the make / model of your computer? Could be a low-quality USB chipset causing the issues.
Are you using a USB2 or USB3 port for the RZX?
Hi
I have the latest dual processor(32 cores) server class PC with many USB 3 ports.
None of the USB 3 ports are used for anything else than the RZX.
When will they release 4.2.6 and a new windows driver and perhaps a new firmware for the RZX?
4.2.5 doesn't show the displays on the RZX controller so I had to roll back to 4.2.4
Thanks
