How to analyze my music all on a external hard drive

Hi. I am wondering if i can analyze all my tracks that i keep on an external hard drive without having to import them? I am worried that if i import the tracks they will then go onto my computer macbook pro. Because I am a mobile dj and do a lot of weddings and clubs I have well over 12,000 songs. 5,000 of those are video that I have gotten thru sites like xtendamix.. I really don't want those on my computer

I use an external drive for my collection (and that's where I store the database) so I can move it between computers. Just drag-and-drop the files from the external drive into the rekordbox collection - they're not copied into your computer, just analysed where they are.

make sure you got the "write id3 tags" unchecked in the prefs and you can just drag & drop them. Better tho is if you already got those files as part of iTunes to sync the iTunes playlists.

See my workflow which is similair (I have all my track files on a server)
