Rekordbox DVS - best external soundcards

I recently moved from Traktor DVS to Rekordbox DVS. I play out quite a lot in a range of different set ups. I use the digital vinyl alongside real records.

Most gigs I play do not have a compatible Pioneer mixer. So, I need an external soundcard. I've been using my old Traktor Audio 8 soundcard and Rekordbox control Vinyl and it works ok. But I've noticed an occasional glitch where the beat almost skips and would prefer to buy a new soundcard that has excellent audio quality that I can rely upon. I have a 2015 Macbook Pro.

The big question for me at the moment:

1. What external soundcards do Pioneer make/recommend?
2. What external soundcard have others tested and recommmed?

I'm a bit of an audiophile so, as I said, I'm looking for the highest quality soundcard. Pulse, would really appreciate your views here.

Rather than going an "audiophile" soundcard, I'd stick with using a proven dvs soundcard like SL3, SL2, SL4 or whatever what was originally designed to be used in the dvs system...

Basically anything should work and all you care about is the I/O latency - thats why I recommend using a pure dvs soundcard rather than experimenting with studio soundcards where the sound quality benefit will be hardly noticeable...

Saying that you are an audiophile and you are using dvs to play digital tracks - in one sentence?? :-D You can't polish a digital turd using an "audiophile" soundcard anyway... ;-)

Thanks Marek. That's actually my question, what was originally designed to be used in the DVS system when the mixer isn't Pioneer?

The Traktor Audio 8 soundcard I've been using has small glitches so I need to make sure I buy the right replacement. Good advice on the SL2, 3, 4 as these are known to work. I will research the audio quality.

I only buy lossless files - not mp3s - so the sound quality is good. Good quality sound comes from all the bits in the chain being quality.

I'd personally prefer the SL over any NI soundcard and there are imho no other brands worth mentioning.. You can get the Traktor A6 or A10 pretty cheap but the quality of the SL is incomparable (I had both - A6 and SL3. Now there is only SL3 on my desk....) The SL's are galvanically isolated what is a nice bonus and ensures there will be no grounding hum or whatever.... Also having Serato which you get with the soundcard is nice to have as there are features still missing in the RB DVS so I am switching between RB and Serato there and back, depending on which one of them pisses me less at the moment :-D Its a no secret that the pioneer dvs still does have a long way to go to be 100%....

There is also some Denon DVS soundcard which was pretty compact but I haven't read any reviews.

Is the Tascam studio sound card compatible with the Rekordbox? I am looking for a studio level sound card for music production and Rekordbox, any feedback is helpful. Thanks....

@Steven > Yes, but only for audio output; only Pioneer DJ products officially support DVS input.
