DJM900nxs2 with Rekordbox DVS comined with TimeCode- & oldschool-Vinyl -> Recording Question

Hi there,

I am not shure if Rekordbox DVS fits to my Needs, so I would like to clarify some things to prevent to spend money for a solution that maybe will not work ;-)

I mainly play Vinyl. Cause of missing some tracks that are not available on vinyl I would like to complete the missing tracks by using a DVS.

1st question about that:  Is it possible to use a mix of real- and timecode Vinyl during playing a set?

2nd: Is it possible to record the audio-Output of that Mix via Rekordbox DVS?

3rd: Cause I like to do some video livestreams across OBS - is it possible to route the audio-output of Rekordbox DVS to the Input of a 3rd Party Software like OBS?

I own a DJM-900nxs2 and would like to avoid to use an additional soundinterface.

Does it work with rekordbox DVS with just using the nxs2 or if not, does it work with an additional soundinterface as a Workaround?

What would be a recommended setup for that needs?

Thanks and best regards

Achim

Hey Achim,

1) Yes; this would be considered a "thru" mode.

2) Absolutely.

3) Depending on the operating system you're using, it can either be simple or a ginormous pain in the rear, but the short answer is yes.

You can do all you're looking for with the DJM-900NXS2 without need for additional hardware; all you need is a rekordbox dj + dvs license set.

Hi Pulse,

thanks for your Feedback. Sounds good - maybe ;-)

I am using Windows 7 64-Bit.

Maybe you can give me a hint what Kind of pain I do have to reckon and what I need to get it work with rb dvs - next to the licenses...

Windows = pain, because OBS doesn't support ASIO device drivers. You need to run another 3rd party software (eg. Voicemeeter) to be able to send the ASIO output to the software.

Okay.

the description of rekordbox means, that I can use rekordbox DVS with all rekordbox compatible Pioneer-Hardware.

Does the RB-DVS  also work, with virtual voicemeeter in- and Outputs?

(I think I have to use virtual in and out for my needs)

I haven't tested that, but I believe rekordbox restricts DVS inputs to registered hardware (translation: you can't just use any old audio interface or software bridge for DVS).

What you're looking for is to send the output of the mix to another software; that can be done without many hoops.

The Problem is to send the output of the mix to another Software.

It's not possible, to choose another soundcard für an Output.

Input- and Output-Decks can just use the same rekordbox compatible ASIO Driver.

I see no chance to grab the ASIO stream to route it to another Software...

You certainly can send the outputs to other software! Tell me what you're trying to do and I'll give you the instructions.

I like to do some video livestreams across OBS by using Pioneer DJM-900nxs2, 2 Turntables, Rekordbox DVS with Timecode-Vinyls and "normal records" in thru-mode.

Timecode- & "normal" Vinyl -> DJM-900nxs2 -> Laptop with Rekordbox -> same Laptop with OBS -> RTMP-stream to fb / yt.

Achim,

when thinking about buying a RB DJ + DVS License, you may consider the purchase of the new DDJ-XP1 instead which will come with the two licenses. Might be the better value.

Just in case....

Hi there,

@Frank

Was a good hint. Cause I need a 2nd Soundinterface, I got the Interface2 in combination with DJ+DVS License.

@Pulse

What a pity. So: Feature-Request to enable using another soundinterface for output than the input ;-)

By the way - I've testet around a lot and got the problem that the internal BUS-Interfaces of my Laptop become overloaded by using 3 Webcams and one or two Soundinterfaces. Doesn't matter if I spread them to different Host-Controllers.

So I decided to use one Laptop for DJ'ing and another one to stream.

Nevertheless thanks for assistance!

@Turntable.DJ > Yes, your best bet is to output the audio to another computer for streaming in that situation. The only reason this guide was created was to assist in keeping everything "in one place" using one set of hardware and the best audio quality.
