Rekordbox file relocation problem

Hi there,

So I decided to re-organise my music and in the process I had renamed a folder with music located in it.

When I then opened up rekordbox the music I put in a playlist now had the '!' to indicate the file was missing. So I decided to relocate it however I got the message of it "already being in the collection".

Adding the 'file location' filter into the browser showed that the music was thought to have been in the same sub folder, but the main folder had the old name before I changed it.

Not knowing what to do I decided to delete all of the music within my collection and then re add - which meant getting rid of cue points/ memory points etc.

I don't understand why the music will not allow itself to be reallocated or why the message of it "already being in the collection" pops up.

Many thanks

The only reason, and I'll say it again, the ONLY reason files ever get listed as "already exists in your collection" is if you import that same physical file a second time (even if it's been moved to a different folder). Somewhere in your process after moving the file, you re-added it to your collection.

The best solution for you would be to sort by location, remove all the files in the "new" location, then relocate all the "old" ones (which more likely have the hot cues and memory points stored on them).

Right, thank you. That does make sense, I will definitely be aware of this next time. Thank you for your help.
