DJS-1000 sync with CDJs and MIDI hw questions

I have 2 questions about syncing the djs-1000 with CDJs

1. The product web site says it can be synced via pro-link with cdj 2000 nxs2 and xdj1000mk2, while the manual says it can be synced to pro dj link compatible units "such as" the 2000 nxs2. The old cdj 2000 nxs is not mentioned explicitely, my guess from the manual is that yes it is possible but i'd like to see it confirmed by pioneer. Can the djs 1000 sync with the older first generation nexus players?

2. About midi sync, i'd like to know if the djs 1000 can be used as a "bridge" to sync the music played by cdjs on the pro dj link to devices connected to the djs 1000 midi ports. Again the manual seems to point into this direction but it's not  100% clear. So my question is: if I put a djs 1000 in my pro dj link network can I get the sthe midi clock from a drum machine, ableton link or whatever and have the music played by the cdjs sync to the  external midi clock? And also viceversa can I send the sync from a track playing on a cdj and have a midi clock output that syncs my drum machine, synths, ableton link and so on to the track playing on the cdj?

hi julia

someone from Pioneer will have to answer 1. but the Toraiz SP-16 which the DJS-1000 is based on syncs with all gen nexus player inc 900 and 2000 as well as XDJ's so hopefully this does too.

regarding 2, again if it follows the Toraiz, then it can be used as a sync bridge but only one way, CDJ/DJS > Other devices via midi clock so you can sync a drum machine, synth etc and it's a rock solid connection.

there are other ways too, this is an interesting read.

hi phil,

tnx for answering, hopefully we'll have a pioneer answer soon too.

regarding 2, that's why i was asking, i've read something about the toraiz and remembered that the sync would work one way only.

i've tried already that utility mentioned by djtt and it indeed works fine, but i'm not very keen to add a computer to the loop. at the moment i get the midi clock for the drum machine and synths from the mixer (allen & heath px5). it works reasonably well, doesn't drift too much and i can easily nudge it with a couple of buttons on the mixer.

i like the djs-1000, i'd like to put one in my setup to spice up my dj sets

i cant seem to get the tracks from the cdjs 3000 onto the djs 1000... this is the case right? my understanding is i can edit/remix tracks live while im spinning and thats why i bought it. however, i cant seem to use pro link correctly or figure this out theres nothing really out there explaining the cdjs 3000 with it. how do i use pro link for the djs 1000 and nx2 900 and 2 cdjs 3000? do i need an ethernet hub? and is it really the case i can edit tracks live? i cant seem to get a regular track onto the creator program on my imac. very complicated

Hi Phil/Julia, thanks for the posts.

Regarding #2, have either of you done this successfully yet?

I have 2 CDJ3000s, a DJS-1000 and a Zen Delay which can be synched to a midi clock, from what you're saying it sounds like I can use the current track playing on CDJ (master), synch my DJS and then send signal as MIDI clock to my Zen Delay which will sync my external fx? Is this correct? Is it difficult to set up?

I specifically dont use a laptop, and have a Rane MP2015 mixer which doesnt have a MIDI clock so its the CDJ/DJS or nothing.

Thanks all
