Transfer cue grid info from USB to Rekordbox

Hi Guys!

I've read a few topics a while ago about this problem/question but a never saw a real answer about this issue..

I have a new version of osx on my mac and installed rekordbox again.

On my usb stick i have all my tracks nicely cued and ready for my gigs.

I thought because of the 'cue grid info' button on 'sync manager' it would be possible to sync this backwards from my usb stick (i tried this even before i reinstalled my osx software and it worked perfectly).

Now when i load the same playlist into rekordbox (i have the same file constructions/lists in my finder) and analyze them i cannot put the cue and grid info back on the tracks because it says its 'a new computer'. I have found out that i had to make a backup from my playlist (i'm so stupid) but haven't done that (wasn't aware)..

So i have an usb stick with the same tracks as in rekordbox with all the cues etc (even a backup stick) but can't put this back on the computer.. WHY?! :(

If i need to cue all my tracks again on rekordbox it will take ages.. does anybody have a solution for this? And why does Pioneer doesn't come up with an solution for this?

Looking forward to hear from you guys!

Sorry, the reason that won't work is the unique ID of each track will now be different, and thus not a match for the tracks on the export USB drive... even if it's the EXACT same song from the exact same location on your drive as when you originally exported it. When you move to a new computer, you should move your database as well. An export drive can't (currently) be used to rebuild or import anything other than the music itself, everything else must be done within rekordbox from scratch.

The solution is coming down the road, and it's a limitation of the current database system. We hope to see it in a future version, but no timeline is available yet.

If that USB drive was exported from that collection, what you want to do is right-click on the USB drive and select Update Collection - that will transfer back any changes you made to grids, memory points, hot cues, playlists, etc.

Thanks for the quick and clear answer. I don't like it but it's a clear one ;)

Hope my USB sticks will be alive for a while until there is a solution for this.

@Jeroen > Even if they make a change to the system, you likely wouldn't be able to restore from old devices.
