Yes; you unlock access to all 8 hot cues, loops, etc. all through the CDJ-2000NXS / NXS2 and the DDJ-SP1, without needing rekordbox running.
Hey Pioneer DJ,
I want to upgrade from my Kontrol s8 to a club-standard rig but I am unwilling to give up my performance pads and loop encoder knob. I have been crawling the web looking for a solution and on these forums and in a few youtube videos people are saying I can directly hook up the DDJ-SP1 to either the CDJ-2000NXS2 or the XDJ-1000MK2 (ref. https://forums.pioneerdj.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115000241706-CDJ2000NXS-and-DDJ-SP1?input_string=DDJ-SP1%20USB%20Connection%20to%20CDJ-2000NXS2%2FXDJ-1000MK2 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qU6dHDmh3OY&feature=youtu.be&t=3m34s).
1) Is it true that I can plug the DDJ-SP1 into the top USB port of the players and get some added functionality WITHOUT having to use Rekordbox DJ (aka performance mode)? I want to play off of my thumb drive because I've heard the audio processing via direct usb connection is better than any HID mode, including Pioneer's own solution and even Rekordbox export mode via Pioneer's PRO DJ LINK.
2) If true, what features are enabled by this setup? I am assuming I get control of hot cues. What about slicing, a sequencer, loop control, beat jump, etc.?
Long post short: When hooking up a DDJ-SP1 via USB directly to a CDJ-2000NXS2, exactly what added functionality do we get?
Thank you Guru

I would love to buy a SP1 but I have 2 XDJ-1000 MK1 😂
does beat slicer work?
> does beat slicer work?
No, it does not. Only hot-cues, looping and beat jump.
would be nice if a new SP1 type unit came out for the NXS2 8 cues, maybe a single 8 pad unit we can place at bottom of player or mixer and link them together.
