Line input level

Hello

I own an XDJ-RX which I love. I've also had it hooked up to a couple of SL-1200s and they work great.

However today I ran a 3.5mm jack to phono connector to my iPhone in order that I could play some Spotify tracks through the mixer. I set one input to "line" level and the phone volume to max. The audio was surprisingly quiet, even with the trim cranked to max.

Am I doing something wrong or is there a setting I can change? Troubleshooting carried out:

Ran cable direct to amp: no problem, good volume
Tried different cable
Tried both line 1 and line 2 inputs
Checked all other settings e.g. crossfader in middle etc

It's like the line inputs are attenuated somehow. Are they set up specifically for Pioneer DJ gear?

Thanks

Russ

Hi Russ,

this is normal. The LINE IN's are designet for DJ Gear with high Level Out's like CDJ. CDJ's got nearly 2 Volt at the RCA.  Normal Consumer Line Level is 0,3 Volt  (Home Hifi / Smart Phones ) !! Your PA AMP is designet for 0,75 Volt / 0 dBu . (in some cases switchable to 1,4 Volt).

So if you like to use your iPhone  -->  use the USB PORT and your Phone with Rekordbox APP is like a USB Stick with full GAIN Level

Makes sense, thank you.

Will just plug the iPhone into the amp. It was just to play Spotify playlists, prior to starting the mixing later on. I was just surprised at the low levels and was intrigued as to the reason, but now I understand!
