Buying a second hand DDJ-RB with invalid licence?

Hi Im new to the forum so go easy.

I bought a second hand DDJ-RB this week from CEX online and when it arrived and I tried to activate the serial it says it has already been used. I have contacted Pioneer direct and I have also contacted CEX for 2 reasons

1. My unit is unusable at present!

2. Whoever sold the unit has essentially ripped off CEX as the software itself is worth £99 and they have kept that!

Anyone had a similar encounter with any resoution? I have informed Pioneer of the serial number of the actual unit but dunno if that gonna be of any help. My fear is that I am gonna have to send it back and get a refund and put the rest to it and buy a new one but I would imagine Im not the 1st person this has happened to?

I don't know who CEX is, but unless they're an authorized retailer of Pioneer DJ gear, they're unlikely to be able to assist you from their end in resetting the license.

People are legally allowed to sell the hardware without selling the software; they are technically two separate "items" and can be used individually. If the product you purchased said that a rekordbox license was included, your grievance is with the seller. If they didn't mention it coming with a rekordbox license, the choice is yours to purchase one from rekordbox.com or use another MIDI-compatible software.

Who did you speak with at Pioneer DJ / where did you inquire to try and resolve the issue?
