Deleting tracks from USB Stick

I currently have a total of 1434 tracks in my RB library.

When I insert my USB stick into RB it says I have 1454 tracks on it. I recently deleted 20 tracks. They disappear from the iTunes playlists fine but when I click on All Tracks it still says there's 1454 tracks on it.

How can I get RB to remove the tracks completely from the drive ?

Can you find the tracks in rekordbox and see if they actually exist, the tracks may be listed but if you click on them they will show that they are missing.

Tracks aren't removed if you remove them from a playlist because you may still want them on the device, or they may appear in another playlist. Try removing them from the root of the device instead.

I've tried a few ways of deleting the tracks.

My usual way is to delete from Traktor as that has an option to delete the files from hard drive drive. I'll then open RB and click Display Missing Files to delete the files from my RB collection so the actual files are definitely deleted from all my collections.

Yet when I sync to USB those tracks remain in place in my all files section and if I search for them they still show up. They disappear from the playlists but are still physically on the drive.

Ive also tried deleting the files directly from my RB collection (not playlists) but still the tracks remain on USB stick after syncing.

Any ideas ?

This still happens with 5.8.5. I don't know about 6 but could we have one last update for 5 which fixes that? It would make cleaning up half as much work.

If you want to have the songs removed from the device if you remove them from a playlist, open EXPORT mode and change this:

I want them to be removed from the USB's database if I delete them from the local collection. Not just a playlist but the collection.

So far, if I delete a track from the collection, it's removed from all playlists it's in. Locally as well as on the USB. But under "All Tracks" on the USB it still shows up. I have to manually select all the affected tracks on the "All Tracks" list on the USB and have to use "delete" to really delete them from the USB.
That makes no sense to me. The sync function is supposed to create a mobile copy of my local collection on a USB drive. So how can it be that after hitting sync, files, which have been deleted from the local collection completely, are not removed from the USB as well?

For now my workaround looks like this:
I delete the tracks in question from the USB's "All Tracks" list. Then I delete the physical files and then I run the missing files check in rekordbox to clean the local database up. Obviously not handy.

That aside, rekordbox seems to have one more problem with deleting. Deleting a track from rekordbox doesn't delete the database record. After deleting a track, the analysis files are indeed gone but the database records remain. They remain in export.pdb as well as datafile.edb. So both database files will never stop growing. How is that supposed to work for the longer haul?
That makes no sense to me either. If I hit the delete button there's exactly one thing I want that button to do: you guessed it, to delete.

@js > You're asking for something different than this thread is discussing; we are aware of the request for a "delete from collection > delete from drive" function, but it has not yet been added.

To be clear, I'm not asking for the physical files to be deleted. I'm only talking about the rekordbox databases.

A simpler description ...

What works:
Delete track from playlist, hit sync => track is deleted from USB's playlist. That's fine.

What doesn't work:
Delete track from collection, hit sync => track is deleted from all USB playlists but not from "All Tracks". Has to be manually removed from USB's "All Tracks" to really delete it.

So, deleting something from the collection should completely delete the track from the USB's database when sync is used.

And of course, going one step further, an option to delete the physical file as well in the process would be even better.
