Getting Rekordbox database on a backup laptop

Hi, I really need your help, I have read lot of tutorials and seen a lot of video tutorials, but I am still having a lot of difficulty concerning migration of Rekordbox.
Here is my current situation:

I have a MacBook Pro (El Capitan) with rekordbox 5.02 working fine. All my music is on an external ssd of 2Tera (A1).
I have 85000 tracks in my Rekordbox collection. The ssd works only on Mac.
Now, I have a windows 10 laptop which i would like to use as backup to run Rekordbox in case my Mac has any issue during me DJing. So I bought an additional external hd (B1)and I asked rekordbox to backup my library and songs on B1.

When I ask Rekordbox on my windows laptop to restore the library, Rekordbox do not see the tracks. Please note that on A1 there are hundreds of folders so I cannot make a “relocate”

I would be much grateful if you could tell me the proper and easiest way to have Rekordbox with all my database on the windows laptop so I can use it while the songs are kept on B1.

Thanks for treating my desperate request urgently. I really need your help.

Best regards

Prakash

On your Mac, in rekordbox File > Library > Backup Library - save the library AND ALL MUSIC (it will ask you) to your B1 hard drive, which should be formatted FAT32.

On your Windows computer, go to File > Library > Restore Library and follow the steps there.

Dear Pulse,
First of all thanks so much for your fast reply. Ok now I know the proper steps to do it. But I am still in a panic situation!!!!
I did the following before receiving your reply:
I plugged in my A1 and B1 and did made a backup data and collections on B1 (ntfs). Then I went in settings/advance and asked to move the database to B1. After some times, it said done and all my playlists disappeared on my Mac. I was thinking it would make a copy of the database into B1 and leave the original database in my Mac but Rekordbox is empty. Remember I have 85000 tracks all analyzed and playlisted! I have a show tonight and no playlists!!!! This is really PANIC!!! I am thinking maybe the playlists are in the external B1 now. So I asked my Mac Rekordbox to restore the library and it’s been 12 hours now and it is hardly at 60% restoration!
- Is that a normal situation because I have a large collection or should I do a general Mac Book recovery from my Time Machine?
- Sorry I didn’t know that I should have formated my external B1 to fat32 for backup. I thought that Fat32 was only when using the drive for playback directly into a CDJ. Isn’t that so please?
- Finally which software do you recommend to format my 3Tera hard disc to fat32 please?

Thanks for your time and help!!! I got a dj in 10 hours!!!!

Again thanks in advance for your help

Kind regards

Good I’ve been able to recover all the database on my Mac.
Now for backup, rekordbox refuse to backup saying that the B1 is in Fat32 and cannot support large file transfer. If I format B1 to EXFAT then rekordbox accepts the backup; my question is will the windows 10 laptop read B1 in EXFAT or not please?

@Sumputh > Windows will format exFAT, Mac can't, but it can read it - so if you've formatted it under Windows, you can use it on both. The only problem there is the drive can never be used as an export device because the players don't read exFAT.

In future, I don't recommend doing this kind of stuff the day before a gig. ;)
