Change the color of pads in sampler?

Hello,

I am a turntablist using an S9 and DVS turntables, recently I started to load up my Sampler with some of my characteristic sounds to spice up my sets. I have also remapped much of the RB functionality for other uses on my hardware, so I'm comfortable altering an .xml.

I have created 4 fully loaded sample banks now that are used for different things, but all of the colours are the same when I'm looking at the hardware. I have an 11" screen and determining which bank I am currently in is tough during a live set.

I know that you can "change the color" of the samples, but that color is only visible after you hit the pad. Can the color of loaded, but inactive samples be changed anywhere in the software, or in the .XML library settings?

Sorry, unfortunately the pad color for the sampler only changes when the sample is playing, it cannot be changed before that.

Have you gone into rekordbox and on the sample pads there is a button that you can change the color with, top left of the pad slot.

Hey there Jay,

Yeah, so I did discover that option a while back and I re-set some colors on my first pad bank. But all of the pads are still purple while they have not been triggered. When I hit the pad, the new color appears, but all of my pad banks still look the exact same even after altering the pad sample colors in the way you've explained.

But that color only comes through after I hit the pads, and It would be really helpful to be able to see what bank I am in before I start slapping the pads. Especially because I cannot really preview the samples in my headphones before playing them out the master channels. Currently, I have to activate the the Sampler utility in the software, squint at my screen to read one of the samples and then decide which bank I'm in. Ideally I would like to code this in a logical way, I could use blue for atmospheric samples, red for vocal chops, orange for drums, etc.

I come from an MPC background where pad coloration is a KEY part of my workflow and many others. Is this just an issue on my DJM S9, or is this just a program wide rekordbox issue? This seems like a pretty basic gap in functionality.
