How does recordbox recognize files ?

Hi

I am wundering how does recordbox, recognizing files, when scanning for mising files or when opening a file in the library ?

The question comes out of, i am fixing some files with low og bad sound, with a 3rd party software, and that generates a new file, after that i am simply thinking about replacing the old file with af new and improved file.

It is many files i am thinking about, thats why it is need that either record box just use the new improved file when using it from the library, or recordbox need to find the new file using the find missed file bulk function, this is needed to keep all my playlists intact.

Is it just the filename recordbox looks at ? or is also fileconent ? or is it also a file hash ? All of the above or some of the above ?

than you for your help

Kind regards

Thomas

First, for relocation rekordbox tries to match the filename. If you've changed the filename you can manually match it by pointing it to the new file.

If you are replacing the files, I would suggest you actually import them fresh as the beatgrid and waveform data could be slightly different from file to file. Any inaccuracy in the beat grid would potentially cause problems with sync and off-beat audio.
