Follow[SOLVED] Latency Issue DJM-900
I purchased an apogee duet so I could out put my DJM-900 to it for a quality recording but now I'm having some issues - first of all, the apogee doesn't have line inputs, so I'm having to input the DJM-900 as if it were an instrument, like a guitar or something (my friend says this a problem for good quality, I don't really know much about all this so bear with me). The second issue is, I have everything connected, and although I have to play at a somewhat quieter volume than I'd like to, I got my levels looking nice and healthy everywhere in the chain (apogee levels look good, djm-900 levels look good, ableton levels look good - ableton is the DAW im recording into). Here's where the main problem starts, which I'm sure some of you already see coming - latency between the djm-900 and the apogee. The music that is coming to my headphones is sooner than what is coming out of the monitors. My other friend told me that in order to fix this, I need to purchase ANOTHER mixer (mackie's 802 vlz3 is one he suggested) and output the djm 900 to that to get everything running on the same time sequence. What I'm wondering is, is this really the best solution or is there another way around this that I'm missing? Also, if this is the proper way to have this setup, to be clear, I would only need a mixer with 1 stereo input and 1 stereo out, or 2 mono in / 2 mono out, correct?

Have you tried connecting the booth out to the soundcard and the main out to your monitors? You should avoid latency issues if you do it that way.
You could also just record using the built in soundcard on the DJM900. You can record via USB. Set your outputs on the pioneer software to record out, and then set the inputs on whatever recording software you are using (I'm using Audacity - it's free) to the DJM 900. You can set the levels on the pioneer software also. I have mine set to -10 decibels currently.
Adjust the latency settings of the soundcards to the lowest settings before you get audio drop-outs.
pioneer software? can someone provide me with a link to download that
@Reggie > He's talking about the drivers / ASIO: http://pioneer.jp/support/download/dj-e/djm-900nexus/driver.html
