Hey Sam, welcome to the forums.
Firstly, the DJM-400 has two sets of Master Output RCA pots. Have you tried both sets of outputs?
Secondly, the M1 Active 520 monitors, I believe, only have a TRS and XLR connection so how are you connecting to them?
Hey i'm new to the forum, have been having some problems recently with set-up and hoping someone could help out.
This is my set up:
2 CDJ-400s connected to DJM-400 connected to M1 Active 520 Monitors
Basically I'd been having trouble with one output of DJM being very weak and muffled (which i have noticed there have been a lot of posts about) but last week my DJM-400 stopped producing any output. I can hear both channels fine through headphone output on mixer.
I have tried different output cables (inc. brand new ones) and reversing left and right channels and connecting in the alternative outputs but none of these have produced any results. There are levels for both cdjs on the mixer and for master output.
In addition to this i have connected an ipod through the inputs but still cannot get any output through speakers
From this i assumed there must just be an issue with the mixer outputs (internal problem?) but since then i've borrowed a friends' mixer (behringer DX626) and now can only get output through the one channel when using the cdjs. Again i have tried reversing l&r and using and ipod but still only left or right output
in addition to this i tried cdjs straight into monitors and again only get either left or right channel output
have tested monitors with ipod so they are working fine
Am i missing something obvious or are both my CDJs and DJM needing repair?
Literally any help or suggestions would be amazing as i'm tearing my hair out over this!

hey gavin, cheers for the speedy reply
I have tried both sets of master outs (both with different cables) and still no luck
have been using phono to 6.3mm jack to go from the mixer to monitors, (am i not supposed to have done this?)
@Sam > So your cable looks like this then?

Are you sure you have one end in the red pot and the other in the white pot?
yeah but one for each side, like this http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Cable-Pro-2-x-RCA-Phono-2x-1-4-Jack-Stereo-Lead-1M-00677-/00/s/MTUwWDE1MA==/$(KGrHqV,!iMF!)3Z-!kKBQg(bFRJ4w~~60_35.JPG
and am totally sure have them in the right ends (and have tried reversing as well)
Ok, sounds like you've everything connected correctly.
Now lets troubleshoot the mixer itself. Can you connect an input to one channel of the mixer and test it? Then try it on the second channel. Are the results the same? Try it again with a different set of cables.
just connected cdj as input, with two different cables and outputting it to monitors with two different cables (plus tried output into hifi speakers) and absolutely nothing apart from humming/buzzing sound (while im getting levels on the mixer and can hear through headphones)
I should have picked up on this earlier... Your mixer is clearly receiving signal as the VU meters are lighting up so the inputs, obviously, aren't the problem.
Given that you've tried different outputting options / different speakers it seems like you have a slight hardware defect with the Master Output pots on the mixer. Therefore, I'd have to advise you to contact a Pioneer service centre in order to arrange repair. You can find help in the tech support contact area in the right column >>
Okay thanks, will get in contact with them
Given this though, my cdjs should work fine through my friends' mixer right? but on this i can only get one channel of output with the other channel very very quiet and buzzing, im not sure why this is?
if i connect cdj straight into speakers or laptop with phono to jack (as in the picture above) or phono to 3.5mm respectively i only get this one good channel, one of buzz. whereas if i connect to my hifi system with phono to phono i get good sound from both channels, do you have any idea why this could be?
thanks for all your help so far btw, absolute godsend
Have you one end of the 6.35mm jack going into the L Input and the other jack going into the R Input on your monitors?
