[CLOSED] Using effects...

I am so lost. Besides doing a simple effect at the right time I know nothing I realized when I watch something like this.

I have the 2000 Nexus so honestly I am still lost. WHen I try this or that it sounds like crap, so much so I must admit I left it alone. I don't want to, I want to learn how to  be this good but most videos (Or all) just show someone doing it, not really step by step.

Any advice? Any videos on Effects 101 or Effects for Dummies that teach not just tell you what they do

Don't be disheartened, Kutski is something of a pro and a bit of a master when it comes to effects and scratching., so he is better than most, but mainly due to practice.
Just take it slow at first, rather than going mad just carefully listen to what each effect is doing. Try combining effects like trans and noise - as he does in the video - or roll and filter, twisting knobs on both of them simultaneously.
Kutski has clearly set up his tunes beforehand in rekordbox so he can make good use of hot cues and he's made that look really good with perfect timing but it's quite a simple effect - he's pressing the hot cue and the pressing pause before pressing the next hot cue to provide a break between noises.

I think Looshus is referring to the "Roll" in the beat effects section (see 1:25 in the vid) and "Filter" from the Sound Color FX section (see 0:25 in the vid). The Roll is applied with the x-pad on the RH side of the mixer and the filter can be applied simultaneously with the rotary pot under the Ch3 fader.

Justin I have the DJM 2000 Nexus and a RMX1000. I tend to use the RMX more then the DJM 2000 Nexus. But when using any effects it takes practice, timing and rhythm.  This comes with doing it over and over again. Finding your style. Yes you can watch others do effects to pick up some tips. But I have found that it is a style of each dj the way they use effects. Just keep playing around with it and you will stumble across new stuff. With the effects being quantized, it should help. Good luck and keep practicing.

Honestly, the best method is just using your gear day in, day out and knowing exactly what everything does then being able to combine different features. You're learning from watching videos like Kutski so go experiment and have fun. Record different things you do and then listen / watch it back and see what worked or what didn't.
