just so you know you can use noise on an empty channel like 4 so you have individual volume control on just that effect

Follow[SOLVED] DJM 900NXS future firmware update request
I have noticed in peoples previous post's requesting that the noise color effect be turned down. I definitely agree with them It's really loud and to me unusable.
Another thing I'd like to add on top of the decrease in volume of that effect, is for noise effect to have a tail when turned off by pressing the color effect button. Similar to the way the space color effect does it. Let's say if the space effect was at 3 o'clock on the dial and you hit the color effect button to turn it off it has a really cool tail that gradually decreases in volume. Always sounds great in the mix.
To have those 2 things combined in a future DJM 900NXS update would be super useful.
Pass it on if you guys can
Thanks!
Besides that I absolutely love my new CDJ2000NXS's & DJM900NXS :)

Whenever I use the Noise effect its nearly always on an empty channel and then you can apply effects over the noise.
I had never tried that way before. Awesome thanks for the tip!
@DJC800RV > Well prepare to have your mind blown...
Apply the noise effect to a separate channel.
Increase the channel fader on that channel so the noise is audible.
Apply the [Trans] effect to that channel (increase or decrease timing to about 2/1 or 1/1).
Now, run your finger along the touch strip on the mixer while (wildly!) turning the noise effect.
Boom! Sounds all scratchy scratchy.
@Gavin any luck on a future firmware to revert back the 900 nexus to how the djm 800 echo effect worked? Myself and others complained almost two years ago on a thread. To be honest most djs who have used the djm 800 do not like how the 900 nexus echo works. Those that do like it probably do not know any better and never tried the djm 800 echo.
Also please see if and echo up and echo down can be added that would be a great firmware update along with reverting back to the djm 800 echo effect.
+1 for djm800 echo on djm900. If someone could tell me that the RMX1000 has the djm800 echo I would buy it JUST to solve this problem. That's how much I hate the 900 echo.
i'm with ya Fox, lol
I've requested information on this subject and been advised that it is impossible to change the specification of the effect on the 900 - sorry guys.
So Gavin can they tell us if the RMX-1000 has the 800 or 900 type echo at least?
I have the same question as Bri. Don't think this is what Bri is looking for but I'd even settle for a high-pass version of the 900nxs echo. IMO the low freqs on the 900 echo cause a spike in levels that make it unusable. I realize I can cut the lows before engaging the effect but that's not a practcal solution - it means a complete loss of lows and makes managing levels that much more frustrating. Not to mention, you loose a hand that can be freed up for other uses.
Why can the echo be changed with a firmware update ??
Pioneer release a firmware back in June 2011 improving many of the effects and in July 2011 a firmware for DJM 2000 improving a few of the effect like change completely the reverb .
well the echo on the DJM 900 nexus is very hard to use , and Pioneer couldn't care less . even the DJM 2000 nexus has the better echo and it was released after the DJM 900
@ali - the effect 'can' be changed via the firmware, i think what pioneer are saying are they are not prepared to change the echoes behaviour.
from what i remember, a number of people on the board asked pioneer to change the echo from how it worked on the djm800, which they did on the djm900. unsurprisingly, this resulted in some people being happy with the 'new' behaviour and some people being unhappy and preferring the 'old' behaviour.
i'd expect that pioneer don't now want to change it in a firmware update as you'll have a situation where different mixers in different locations will have different effect behaviours which is just going to cause issues for all the touring djs who rely on the consistency. they'll be no way of knowing what type of echo the mixer has until you hit the button.
i guess the way forward for future generations of mixers is likely to be effects that can be customised/configured by the user and preferences loaded in at the start of each gig similar to the rmx1000 and the a&h db4 mixer.
