Suggestions for Rekordbox updates?

Rekordbox creates duplicates.

Just realized i have over 1000 duplicates in my rekordbox collection, and i think i know why. Yesterday i created new playlists and i didn't dragged the tracks from the collection in RB but directly from my pc. This is my guess, please tell me if i am wrong.

This thing should be taken in consideration for the future rekordbox releases.

What do i need to do now, delete them manually ? Is it other way (i don't think so)?

I do not have a backup copy from an earlier point when the collection was duplicates free .

In my use of Rekordbox i thought of another great option if it would be implemented.

Like i mentioned earlier it would, for me, be perfect if you could browse by album art. I recently looked into Serato (i already used tractor) and the way they provide the option to scroll through your music by album art really appeals to me. It is a serious reason for me to drop rekordbox and go for Serato. That way i get multiple and easy accessible cue points as a bonus. 

The option i would really like to see in Rekordbox is the possibility to assign midi control. How great would it be to scroll with a midiconroler and at the push of a midi button change the playlist or music order by bpm/key/etc ?

Its nearly Februar and no new Rekordbox

I need it for my Gigs but this Version is not usefull i wait and hope it comes,and work now with Traktor and x1

markoerregger> why is rekordbox not usefull? its not meant to be used at gigs> you prepare at home on rekordbox then take a usb stick and plug into the cdj2000's. why would you use traktor and x1?

@travellingporn > I think markoerregger just had some issues with Rekordbox that he wasn't happy with. Hopefully, he'll try 1.5.2 and see how stable it is for use preparing or gigs or using at gigs.

It would be great if Rekordbox could skip or tag "corrupted" files instead of crashing the entire database and making the whole program unusable!!!

Beaport.com AIFF-format still isn't properly fixed. Now a 44kHz 16 bit AIFF file appears in the Collections as VBR (variable bit rate). Hopefully will be fixed soon...

I would love the tag list to be increased to 200. I use the tag list all the time and I find 100 is not enough.

And it was fine to can more of 1000 tracks in one genre i have 2000 Hardtechno Tracks :D

@Jason > That's not the intention for the tag-list; create a playlist instead.

Not sure if these have been suggested yet or not, but they would be helpful in track organizaton and selection.

Suggestion 1:

For those organizing their tracks into many multiple folders and playlists, create a function to customize folder and playlist icons with small jpeg thumbnails, or at least allow to change their colors/text/fonts. This might not make a whole lot of sense to someone who dumps all his tracks into just few playlists, but if you like your tracks organized and have 10, 20 or more of different playlists, it would be a huge visual help. Those that played vinyl (real vinyl records, not Serato) know the advantage of visually recognizing the covers, so the above suggestion is a similar strategy for your folders and playlists. Simply put, the human brain by nature recognizes pictures/colors much easier than lines of text.

Suggestion 2:

For those using "Mixed In Key", you know there are multiple options for your next track. For example, if the track currently playing is 8A, your options are 7A, 9A, 8B as well as 10A and 3A (+2 and +7 for energy jumps). How helpful would it be if RB would color highlight all tracks that are compatible with the currently playing track? That way, when you click on any playlist, you can automatically see the key compatible tracks. The directly compatible tracks (in this case 7A, 9A, 8B) could be highlited in green and energy jumps could be yellow. For this to work, you would have to make sure that only one deck is playing. Otherwise, RB wouldn't know which track to match.

How many songs can I add to a playlist?

DJs are getting lazy enough as it is. Do we really need RekordBox picking out harmonically compatible tracks for them too? Harmonic mixing isn't that hard, god gave you TWO ears (not eyes) for that.

@Jason > I believe the maximum (as noted above in @markoerregger's post) is 1000 per playlist, however you can always create sub-playlists.

@Angus: that's a pretty stupid comment. First, it has nothing to do with laziness, but rather with being able to more quickly and efficiently sort through your collection when looking for harmonically compatible tracks. Know what a lazy DJ does? Doesn't give a crap about organizing his sets and uses software like Virtual DJ, that does the mixing for you. Secondly,  the vast majority (probably more like 99.9%) of the DJs are not talented musicians who can easily recognize a key just by listening to a piece of music. Your time to pick the next track is very limited, so who's got time to listen through their collection during a set anyway?

@Pulse:  Are you aware of the AIFF-import problem that Recordbox shows a 16bit 44kHz Aiff file from Beatport as a VBR-file in the collection?

After importing the collection into RB from different (unsorted) sources I have 2 problems that I like to see solved:

1) Show Duplicate Tracks, like something you have in iTunes

2) Leave the Search query on after you delete a song, or take any other action. What happens now: I do a search, that select couple of tracks I do not want in RB, then Delete. After Delete (or rightclick and use the RB option to remove from Collection), the Search string is empty and RB shows the full collection from the Top again.

Or is there already a solution / work-around (other than sorting the tracktitle and then scrolling thru the full list looking for duplicates??

Three suggestions from me.

1. A Reset default view button, I'm not sure about everyone else, but sometimes I go a bit overboard with the columns I show, and eventually it becomes a cluttered mess.

2. Selectable column layouts, right now it's a one size fits all scenario, what I'd find really handy is after recording my radio show or a promo mix is to select only these columns so I can export my history/playlist as a text file: Artist - Song - Label, and then swap back to my normal column layout.

3. A customisable command bar where we can drag and drop the commands we use most

Record box should prompt when there is a duplicate track in the collection, as it does when you try and add the same track more than once to a particular playlist.

1. I'd like to see it sync with your portable HDD and internal HDD better. i.e. when a tune in collection brings up the ( ! ) because it lost the path, can you get Rekordbox relocate to "autosearch" your connected drives? If there are duplicates then a box to give you the option to choose : C:/my music/prodigy or D:/rekordbox/prodigy to select.
2. The missing files section = It currently brings up a list of missing files. In itunes if you relocate one of them manually, it will ask you if you want itunes to auto loacate all the others from that drive/area. I'm sure Rekordbox could potentially do that too?
3. Multiple grouping edits = highlight 50 tracks and change say, the genre for all in one move rather than individually.
4. Seamless transferal of data from one computer to another = I use an old PC currently with a 500gb portable HDD, I tried adding to my new Mac Book Pro and it deleted all my playlists, cues,loops on there. I had to build my cues/loops and playlists etc. from scratch.
5. I would like to see a detailed Rekordbox Manual. Telling me everything about what the files and folders are like whats in the "USBANLZ" folder and what the files mean or do. Are the cue/loop pre-set files? How can you re-load them into Rekordbox? Where are my playlists data files saved? How can I re-load them if a fatal crash occurs?
6.  Is there a way of copying over cue/loop preset files (whatever files they are?) to a new computer so that I dont have to redo them all over again?
7. Analyse any duplicate tracks in the contents folder
8. The option to drag files manually in the list to organise in the order I choose
9. Say you create a playlist in rekordbox playlist tab on left hand button of the screen. You copy that playlist to devices (my case a portable HDD). A few weeks down the line you want to add songs to that rekordbox playlist. Can it auto update the device playlist or would you need to add the songs to the rekordbox playlist and then do the same again for the device playlist?
10. Drag and drop artwork into track rather than saving the pic then (like itunes can)
11. MP3 normalize volume would be great. 

#2 - rb already relocates all missing files when u right click on one missing and relocate, it will look for all missing and relocate.
