Provide as much detail of the issue here: i regularly have a crash of the program when i start it up after a fresh restart of the computer. When it crashes it hangs shortly and then quits and osx gives me a notion that it crashes (with the option of a crash report). The second time i start it up it runs without problems. Always the same pattern.

@Adriaan > You answered the first question with "Yes, but not all."  -- that leads me to believe you haven't tried all the solutions in that thread.  Could you please try the one where you rename your database and try again.

I read the complete read me now and i've renamed the library which seems to help!

Great - thanks for that info!

In future, if you find that importing a specific track causes an error, you could check your MP3s for errors or if you already have an it's still a problem with a track analysis, try and send us the track for inspection.  Thanks!

@dean > The file is located in:

"Your Hard Drive Name" > Users > "YouComputerName" > Library > Pioneer > rekordbox

You then drop the "datafile.edb" into the trash, and select the "datafile.backup.edb" and rename it to "datafile.edb".

After the library rename I do experience an occasional crash now and then.

I experience two kinds of crashes/malfunctions:

  1. When i open Rekordbox the logo shows and shortly after that the program stops, when i reopen everything is fine

  2. After Rekordbox opens the link function doesn't appear even though all the players are connected and working. When i restart Rekordbox the link function reappears

@Pulse: i attached a mp3 at which my cdj2000 crash/get stuck. The mp3 a legal file bought on iTunes. It loads up in the player in Rekordbox without problems and plays normally on my computers (mac) but when i drag it to the player it gives an error message and stays  that way. When i drag another mp3 to that same deck everything is back to normal.

@Adriaan > Of course it gives problems when you load it onto the player - it is not a supported format. See the extension at the end? Its .m4a not .mp3 - the players don't support that audio format.

m4a = AAC = Supported (most of my files has the .m4a extension and I'm using it without any problem), but:

In addition to AAC files encoded with iTunes® and with the extension “.m4a”, files with the extensions “.aac” and “.mp4” can also be played on the CDJ- 2000. However, copyright protected AAC files purchased for example at the iTunes Music Store cannot be played. Also, some files may not be playable, depending on the iTunes version used to encode them.

@oakstream > Although some of the files play, not all of them do so, technically, not supported.

Wow, have Pulse and I been wrong all this time? I read over many of his threads from before too just to be sure what I was saying was right... Will check this out, thanks R.

@Adriaan > In this case, I'm guessing the file was DRM protected and hence why you couldn't play the track. Burning to CD and then ripping it back should remove protection.

No worries ;), I think it's a DRM protected file as well.

@Gavin > I converted the track in iTunes into a normal mp3 file. Haven't played it on the cdj yet but i guess it will work now. Burning a cd and ripping it back is a possibility, but that was the reason for me to buy the cdj 2000, so that i didn't have to burn anything :-)

I just found out that DRM protected files has the extension .m4p so that's not the case...

I have approximately 2800 m4a files in my collection, all bought from iTunes and I haven't had any problems with them...

I will test your track to see if it works on my setup.

@Adriaan Tha attached track works fine on my setup. I added it to a playlist in iTunes and imported the playlist via iTunes Bridge i rekordbox. Analyzed the file and opened the playlist and track in my CDJ-2000 via PRO DJ Link.

I also dropped the track on one of my CDJ-2000's in rekordbox and it works just fine.

Have you upgraded to the latest version of rekordbox 1.5.2?

Well tested the track yesterday and my cdj 2000 still crashes (partially) when i want to play the song!

The player shows  the error: " E-8302: PLAYER ERROR (C611)

Rekordbox plays the song just fine.

I don't know if this helps but have you tried to shorten the filename of the above song? It's very long and maybe that's the problem?

@Adriaan > If the song crashes consistently ... it's the song!  As @oakstream says, I think the length of the song title may be a problem as there is a maximum overall path+file name length of around 255 characters.
