[SOLVED] rekordbox and camelot wheel

Hi all,

I would like to know if there is any way to sort the songs in rekordbox collection by key (1A, 2A, etc...)... If there isn't, any suggestions on how can I sort it like that by the easiest way ?

Thanks a lot !

@Felipe > If you are not familiar with Standard Notation you can rename all the keys to Camelot Notation yourself (manually) and then sort.

@Gavin , I am familiar but it is less confusing to use the Camelot Notation, but anyways, does rekordbox identify the key of the songs in standard notation ? That would already help

I'm just busy sorting my keys from the standard notation to the camelot notation ;)

But I have some questions ...

1) Is there a way to read the rekordbox key with an tag editing program?

2) If I manually change the key to Camelot notation in rekordbox ... does the nexus traffic light still works ?

3) I heard from a user that he used mixed in key to write the KEY to the KEY TAG field...

    But rekordbox displays the key in standard notation ??? what would mean that rekordbox converts the key ??

    At the moment i'm using rekordbox for my key detection , but I'm planning to buy MIK... That's why I would like to know

Thanks!

For the people who are changing the key in rekordbox to camelot notation:

A = 11B
Ab = 4B
Am = 8A
B = 1B
Bb = 6B
Bbm = 3A
Bm = 10A
C = 8B
C#m = 12A
Cm = 5A
D = 10B
Dm = 7A
E = 12B
Eb = 5B
Ebm = 2A
Em = 9A
F = 7B
F#m = 11A
Fm = 4A
G = 9B
G#m = 1A
Gb = 2B
Gm = 6A

I also edited the camelot wheel. See attached picture

@ the one. Thank you very much for making that chart. Very usefull. I manually changed the keys in rekordbox in a small genre using your chart and traffic light feature still works with the Camelot keys. Very, very cool.

I'm not a user of the CDJ2000 nexus (as of yet), but can you not let rekordbox do it's normal key, then if you use MIK, can you not just set the MIK settings to tag the Key into the comments section only, then in your menu settings of the 2000 to include the comment column in your search?

I have Mixed-in-Key write the Camelot notation to the 'Comments' field of my tracks, and then make sure Comments is a sort option in the CDJ menu (do this through rekordbox)

Then, I can see the Camelot key in the track 'info' page on the CDJ, as well I can sort my playlists by Comments, to see compatible tracks. Works perfectly.

I manually replaced the standard notation with the Camelot keys in the "keys" field in RB. attached pictures show traffic light working with the Camelot keys. Unsure how accurate it is but it works to some degree. I played a track with a 5B key (pic 1), traffic light showed 4B, 5A, 5B, 6B as matches (pic 2), but not 4A nor 6A (pic 3). I just started using the Camelot key method but it is my understanding that 4A and 6A harmonically match 5B ... Hope I did this right

I was under the impression it was -
1 number up or down in your current letter
and from a to b, or b to a in your current number

Does the traffic light system work in a playlist showing artist and track as the fields (and say you sort by key) or does key need to be a field
