Rekordboks to usb problem!

Hi!

I have already one usb stick that i use when playing out (only need one since we have 2000 with link.) But recently i got asked to play at another club where they did not have 2000 or other players that can link..so i had to make another usb stick.

PROBLEM:

Yesterday:

I prepare my usb stick..going to disk utilities, formating it to Mac journaled extended thingy. Putting it in..exporting all playlists to the usb. Arriving at work..putting the USB stick into the cdj2000...display just shows "NO USB".

Today:

I prepare my usb stick..going to disk utilities, formating it to MS DOS FAT thingy..tryed also to make Partition.

Thinking everything is well and good..i start Rekordbox..starting to export playlists over to the USB. I exported first 1 playlist, ejected the usb..put it back in to see if everything was allright..and it was..so i kept on exporting playlists over to the usb...half way thru i decide to just do another check..eject the usb, insert it back in and get the message: "The disc you inserted was not readable by this computer.". The usb was now with no content and when i opened the disk utility it was set to Mac journaled extended and not MS DOS FAT as i did 10mins ago...and also the partition is gone.

I really have no idea what to do here! The 2nd usb stick is identical to the first one that i use every weekend so i know that it should work.

I am running Mac OSX10.6.8, Rekordbox 2.0.1.

What is dying? The usb? I really don´t think so, because it is brand new!

Hi, try updating to 2.03 , might work better! And try again see if still does it
Am on 10.6.8 myself and 2.03 seems to be a bit more reliable
Good luck

Brand new or not if its dropping out its probably faulty,

Good sticks do not behave like that.

yeah, sounds like a faulty USB stick like Pionix says, you have another just to try?

Maybe try another usb port also, maybe the port itself it faulty

I only have 2 USB sticks atm..both of them are identical (same brand, size etc). One of them works just fine and i use it every weekend at work, so i don´t wanna risk ruining it. I have never had problems with that one. The other one is the one i am having problems with. It might just be an issue with the actual usb stick as you have said..just seemed a little weird since it´s basically straight out of the box. Since it´s easter holiday now i can´t go get a new one either to try out, but i will as soon as the shops open up again after the holidays. I´ll keep you posted when i got a new usb stick and tried it out! Hopefully that will be the solution!

ok cool, yeah could just be a defect from the factory even though they are identical. Let us know

Will do...and just to be sure...the usb stick needs to be formated to FAT32 right? And not anything else!

What is that? I tend to just use Disk utility tool on my mac to format.

Yeah, use Disk Utility and you'll be fine. Are you trying to copy the same data from the first USB to the second?

Do the USBs have any sort of write-protection / security protection that may cause issues?
