Mixed in Key and Rekordbox... Why...!?

So I've been using mixed in key (MiK) for almost a year now, thought it was tremendous in combination with rekordbox (which I have been using longer) and being able to update the key from MiK to Rekordbox. Now, my process used to be

-Download Music and analyze songs through rekordbox on computer 1.

-Move my USB after the songs are analyzed to computer 2. (This is where I have MiK installed)

-Run my new songs through MiK  for the key in Camelot (10A)

-Open Rekordbox and go to my USB device

-Reload all of the tags in my USB device and BAM! Key is in camelot form in the Key section.

Now, I believe this problem started with the update of 2.0.1 where it would not do this anymore. Since then, I have been patient in hopes of an update coming out where it would go back to what I used to do.

Ive gone on twitter and was actually replied to by a representative (I am assuming) of Pioneer or this department or whatever. Point is, I was told that "Rekordbox analyzes the key for you so that you wont have to buy MiK". On the pioneer forums from postings by pioneer workers, I have read to delete all of your files then re-upload them and bla bla bla...

This leads me to my next points..

WHY would the function to allow the camelot setting to happen, be taken out?

The burden this leaves me is to analyze my tracks, reload the tag, check the comments section and one by one change the key of EACH song to come out as in the camelot way.

If it was a company decision to remove the cooperation of the MiK program with Rekordbox, at least throw the Camelot setting on Rekordbox itself. I am not going to re-analyze over 1000 tracks that I already have set up a certain way that you all as a company, have decided to change within this past year.

Camelot system is copyrighted, and Pioneer does not want to pay to license it.

If you like the Camelot notation, you can still use it.  You simply have to edit the tags.  You can do a batch edit to make the changes super-fast and easy.  Simply run a search for a particular key, highlight all of the returned search results and do a batch edit.

Personally, I stopped using Mixed In Key because after doing some tests on my own I found that Rekordbox did a better job of detecting keys.  I still use the Camelot notation in the Comments Field.  But I keep standard notation in the Key Field.

My experience is that MIK is better than Rekordbox.

What you need to do is  DISABLE analyze KEY in Rekordbox. because Rekordbox will overwrite the key field

If you set it that way, the key will be filled in by MIK..

On your OLD already analyzed tracks:

-Sort on comments ( if you also have the key in the comment field)

- all your tracks will be in order .... 1A 2A 3A....

- you can select all the tracks that have 1A in the commend field

-then go to the info tab

-Change key in the key field

that's how I do it....

Hope it helps

I would add 1 piece of advice for anyone using Camelot notation.

Put a zero in front of all numbers less than 10.  For example  1A = 01A    2A = 02A

By doing this your Camelot numbers will sort correctly when alphabetized.
