songs for rekordbox

Quick question:

I normally buy my songs via beatport but now I found some songs on iTunes that are not on beatport. I don't really how it works in detail but i read that iTunes protects its music via a digital rights management (DRM). So there is some limit to the copies you can make.

Now the questions:

 

1.if you put a song on your PC and then export it via rekordbox, does that count as a copy? Or does rekordbox in one way or an other avoid this?

  1. (sorry, this is not specifically related to rekordbox): is the 256 kbps AAC quality comparable with 320 kbs?

I don't think iTunes is made for djs so I m kind of worried about using it to perform live...

  1. the protection is gone lately, I download from iTunes and never worry about this. I would look at the info after the download however and if it's a VBR, convert it to a CBR, the 2000's have a hard time handling VBR files

  2. I switched to AAC a while back, From everything I read from multiple sources, and maybe someone else can chime in that has more knowledge of this then I, AAC196 = MP3 320 for the most part, so a 256 or 320 AAC will sound much better then any MP3, will your ears notice a difference at 320 mp3 or AAC, probably not so it's a personal choice for ya at this point. The file size will be similar between them also. 

If I had a choice, i would use lossless but Pioneer does not allow lossless "AIFF" or WAV files to be exported to tablets wirelessly f you wanted to and if thats coming in the future, I would rather not have to convert everything later on.

Thanks for the fast answer! As I see it then there are no problems at all in using iTunes.

 

I also prefer AIFF, I work with usb keys so that is no problem for me.

I rip all the cds I buy to aiff's, however it's a shame that you have to pay almost 1 euro per song more on beatport for aif's (in my philosophy, one buys the rights to use the track, not for the quality of it, but apparently beatport thinks this is not the case :-(  )
