Re-Cue all tracks now or wait for new Rekordbox?

Hi All,

I've 2 questions but lets start with the first. I've a big libary and made 7 to 10 cue's for each track at the quantize points. The problem is that I found out that the bead grid is good. Manualy I am able to do this better. So I will remade my libary but I saw the "new rekordbox" is comming.

Shall I wait till this new one is there (how long can this be?) Or shall I made this all by myself and take the risk the new rekordbox could do this automaticly for me.

Seconds Question is that I'm wondering how you guys short out all your music? I'm thinking of using 2 SD's. 1 with my mainstream (house) music all shot out in lists with cue points etc. And one with just all the tracks ppl could ask for (Top 40, latin, etc).

Thank you for take some time.

Kris

to answer question one, i'd wait personally.

if pioneer are advertising a new rekordbox then it must be due soon. re-gridding a big library is a large task and if the auto beat grid detection gets improved then it will be a massive waste of a lot of time.

regarding your second question, just go for what suits you best. there's so many different ways to organise your music with rekordbox. i also use the 2 sd card method if it's any help.

i'd wait, new version in my opinion means better analyzing=less manual beat gridding. I am sure you will be re-analyzing if a big new version is coming out

Thanks :) Than I hope it will come soon!

If I've set all my Cue's on the quantize points Rekordbox will not fix them aswell right? I've to do that manualy I think.

Thanks for the response!

yeah, i am sure of you re-analyze in the new version and grids are shifted, then your cue points will not match the grid, the cues probably save based on the time

I've in all my tracks all the cues so I will do it manualy.

One other questions, how do you guys short out the hot cues?

Some friend of my got (A: First beat) (B: Start of the last break) (C: Last Climax)

I've also seen A: Start of the last break B: The Melodie C: Last climax

How are you guys use it and why?

I've got now the first one but if you make any mistake that you have to go back to the start you could use A or just press "Out".

i never pre-program them as it becomes to formulaic for me. same with loops.

i just decide on the fly how best to bring the next track in, it's usually from the first beat, sometimes a loop, sometimes some fun on the hot cue's - depends on the mood. IMHO pre-planning too much takes the enjoyment away but don't let put you off - just find whatever works for you, your crowd and the music!

I'm not optimistic about the new rekordbox, given the track record so far I can't see any reason why it should work better and I'm more inclined to think that the first versions will be a total disaster.

If you have Traktor you can do beatgridding a cues with it and then transfer them to rekordbox with an utility called Rekordbuddy. Traktor is much more precise than rb for beatgridding, this is the way I'm working now, I analyze key in KeyFinder and beatgrid in Traktor and finally use rb only as a tool for uploading the data to the USB sticks.

I agree Julia, I think this new version is going to definitely have some growing pains unfortunately

You have a good point there, I'll try that today with traktor and rekordbuddy! Thank you

I hope that Pioneer outsourced the development to a new team, and that this team does know how to beta-test. It's wishful thinking.
Most likeley Julia and Brichi are right. :-( and nothing changed in their release-management.

Thet even don't know how to properly protect their website and make false statements.
Check www.rekordbox.com and they say that they protect your personal info (e-mailadress) with ssl 3.0
That's not true. They should redirect you to, eg httpS://www.rekordbox.com.
They protect that with a non-trusted certificate, which is stupid but not necessairily wrong.
When accepted , you will get a 404 page not found error. :-)

Typed from an ipad,,which will lead in one big block of text. Sorry..

Yea True..

I'm just doing the beatgrid myself. I found out that sometimes Recordbox is Slichtly off the beat and then he sets the BPM to 127,99 (Insteeds of 128). Than you've got the begin offbeat and the end even more offbeat and over the track a difference of 26 MS.
