Updated genre tags are not synced to usb stick

1) Update the genre tags of my mp3 outside of rekordbox

2) Open rekordbox

3) Select all tracks

4) Choose "Reload Tag"

5) Open Sync Manager and click on start the sync to usb

Result:

  • Genres are correct on my rekordbox library

  • Genres are wrong on my usb stick

It looks like there's a bug in the sync process.

The engineers just want to verify that you are talking about the genre tags within rekordbox and not the genre tags on the actual physical files exported to the USB device?

The reason they ask is because when you update the genres within rekordbox, it updates the files (local) and database, but the Sync Manager only updates the export database on the USB drive, it does NOT re-export the tracks which would contain updated genre tags. So use of the USB export (after a Sync) would show updated genres on a CDJ, but not if you were to use a file browser to open the folder containing that file to view the metadata. If you want to update the files themselves, you need to remove and re-export the files.

Yes I am talking about the genres within rekordbox (db) and not the genre on the physical files. My goal is to see the updated genre tags on my xdj-rx that reads out my usb stick. I make an example:

1) I have a track that is already on my stick with genre "127" on the physical file and also in the rekordbox db.  (Local file tag: "127" / Local DB tag: "127" / Stick file tag: "127" / Stick DB tag: "127" )

2) I change the genre on the local physical file to "Drum & Bass". (Local file tag: "Drum & Bass" / Local DB tag: "127" / Stick file tag: "127" / Stick DB tag: "127" )

3) I reload the tag within Rekordbox (Local file tag: "Drum & Bass" / Local DB tag: "Drum & Bass" / Stick file tag: "127" / Stick DB tag: "127" )

4) I sync Rekordbox with my stick (Local file tag: "Drum & Bass" / Local DB tag: "Drum & Bass" / Stick file tag: "127" / Stick DB tag: "127" )

After point 4 I would expect that the "Stick DB tag" would change to "Drum & Bass" since this is the value on the local db. An there I think is some sort of bug. The file on the stick doesn't need to be changed for that.

Hope this helps. Thanks for your support!

I change the genre on the physical files with another tool. After that I reload all tags with rekordbox.
