[SOLVED] Why doesn't the new feature of 3.2 exports the AIFF, MP3, etc files ALSO with the master database to an external driver?

I just tried to export my database and tracks from an old MacBook to a new MacBook Pro I bought, through the new feature of exporting master database to external driver on the "Advanced" tabb; as described here on this forum.

But I guess the acutal MUSIC files (AIFF, MP3) were not transfered. Only the infos like playlists, cue points, etc.... Why is that? Now when I try to open these tracks on RekordBox 3.2 on the MacBook Pro, they say they can't find the file.

Why don't you guys just create an option of EXPORTING ALL THE FILES to external drive?

I guess I will have to copy all my AIFF and MP3s to the external drive manually.. But the problem is that I used to use Itunes and the BRIDGE function on  RB on the MacBook. And sometimes the MP3 was in my Music folder, sometimes in my Itunes Media folder (when I bought the track from Itunes Store for instance). At the time I wasn't much concerned because I kept it pretty organized ON REKORDBOX.  The folders was a mess...

I guess now I'm in trouble? Do I have to find every AIFF, MP3 file and copy and place it on the same folder at my MacBook Pro?

As time passes and technology evolves, people will upgrade their computers.... You have to let them move music and RB info TOGETHER to their new devices.

Hope I made myself clear... please if anyone can help.

Thank you very much,

Guys, I think I figured out the problem by myself...

I didn't copy the tracks to the external driver  INSIDE RekordBox 3.2 on my old MacBook BEFORE exporting the master database because it didn't said so in the tutorial about this that I read....  The tutorial written by Pulse entitled: "How To: Move your rekordbox (3.2+) database to an external drive / sync between computers"

Maybe its a good idea to add that info...

Now I did it all over again, just like the tutorial mentioned above explained but BEFORE exporting master database I copied everything INSIDE RekordBox to the same external driver that will be the NEW master database, and voila'; IT WORKED!

Thank GOD!

Thanks a lot!

Cheers,

TZ

@TZ > Glad to hear you figured it out -- I was out earlier and saw the first post and thought "I wonder where his music files are..." and I'm happy that was the solution (the easy one!)

The whole method of providing an external database is new. I love it - I have my music on an external drive anyhow, so moving between my desktop and laptop is a breeze.

I'm going to mark this topic as solved, if you need any other assistance, please start a new topic and we'll be glad to help.
