12) Provide as much detail of the issue here:

I am going to erase the boot drive on my Mac Pro (mid 2010). My music files are in my iTunes Music folder, and I currently my this folder resides on a separate internal hard drive. I have realized that my boot drive has lots of space, so I want to move my iTunes music folder back to its default location, which would be user/Library/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media. I would do this using the "Consolidate Files" function in iTunes. Is it possible to do this and have rekordbox database still work? That is, can I point rekordbox to another folder and have it read the files correctly, retain my cue memory points, and have all my rekordox playlists remain intact? Note that I created my playlists in rekordbox, not in iTunes. Thanks for your help.

My recommendation:

1) Move the iTunes music folder to your internal drive - don't use the consolidate ANYTHING option. Allowing iTunes to manage your music is asking for problems everywhere.

2) Open iTunes after you've moved things and check to see that music still plays. All good? Good. Move on to the next step.

3) Are you using iTunes sync with rekordbox? Yes? Sync it, you should be happy. No? Try loading a track and chances are it won't play. Select all your tracks and use the Locate Missing Files menu, you should only have to relocate ONE track, it will ask you if you want it to try and automatically relocate all the others - say yes as the parent path is what has changed, not all the sub-paths.

4) All your tracks should now play. Still got issues at this point? Post and we'll help!

Thanks for your quick reply and detailed instructions. Before I proceed, I just want to double check, are you sure I shouldn't use the Consolidate option? The reason I ask is that, about 4 years ago - I think this was when I bought a new computer - I lost the metadata on a lot of my tracks in my iTunes Library (though I don't recall exactly what I did). So I'm a bit hesitant to go against what Apple Recommends (I'm making reference to this article: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201562 ). I guess I could move the music folder to the internal drive as you suggested, and if that doesn't work, I could always move it back to the internal drive. Please let me know what you think. Thanks again.

I would not consolidate - that will end up moving all sorts of files, making relocation MUCH more difficult within rekordbox.
