You need to sync the playlists FROM iTunes INTO rekordbox so they can be analysed. If they're not analysed, they can't be played. Are you using the Sync Manager to bring the content from iTunes?
Been trying to use smart playlists in tunes to sync to RB to make my workflow more efficient, which has worked out well with USB. But I didn't realize you can't access these synced playlists on the CDJs from computer in RB mode like the regular RB playlists. They don't show up on the CDJ. Will this be possible in the future? Or, would I have to recreate as RB playlists?

Yes, and I sync them to my USB & that is all good - But - when I go to access those same playlists from the CDJ's in RB mode, from the computer, they do not appear on the CDJ's , only the rekordbox folders I created in RB, not the Itunes playlists, nor the itunes playlists synced to RB
That's how it works -- you can't access iTunes playlists directly, you must sync or import them to rekordbox.
Right, but I would expect to be able to access the synced playlists from the players as well, not just the ones created from scratch in RB. Sounds like I will have to recreate the smart playlists from IT into RB to have that access - unless I'm missing something?
Now realized I use "grouping" tag in Itunes lists to filter & can't re-create since RB doesn't include it. Which leads to - why no grouping tag? :-/
@Frank > Simply having the iTunes playlists visible does not mean they can be played on the CDJ; you must import that playlist first. Right-click on the playlist and select "import." and it will copy to rekordbox. From there you can load them to the CDJ.
Unfortunately, the "Grouping" field is non-standard and not part of the ID3 frames list. As such, it is not imported or read by rekordbox.
I just recreated top playlists & used the "copy grouping to label" function to add that filter. Otherwise I wouldn't have the auto update from one entry in Itunes I'm trying to achieve. Trying to make changes all in one step ;-)
Import function is great tho! - hadn't used it - thx ;-)
Is there a possibility to link the local playlists with itunes playlists, so they get updated when syncing them with sync-manager.
For the moment i always must re-import them to get the actual ones for using link-mode.
Would be very useful for those, who manage their tracks in itunes and often use link-mode.
@Alexander > Unfortunately, as previously outlined, tracks must be imported into rekordbox in order for them to be played on the CDJs. Currently, when you use the Sync Manager to bring iTunes playlists into rekordbox, those playlists are still located in iTunes and there is no ability to automatically synchronize the internal playlists with iTunes playlists. We'll pass along your comments to the engineers but I'm not sure when it could be implemented, if at all.
