[SOLVED] 3.0 SYNC Manager is not syncing any of my playlists from iTunes....

Hi,

Right so here we go, I organise my music by iTunes...previously I have just used the bridge feature and synced my playlists and collection from iTunes to RekordBox.

However now in 3.0 SYNC Manager is not syncing any of my playlists from iTunes....

Need help before my gigs this weekend!

Sorry but this new Sync manager is an absolute mess....why o why you decided to change the side by side layout on V2 i will never know? Reloading my iTunes in V3 doesnt load any playlists, so its only my old V2.2 that I can use now...and even that is kinda broken thanks to the bridge feature not working in Yosemite.

Youve messed this up...big time

lol - thanks SKDJ, I'll pass it along to the engineers and have removed it from the thread here.

@SKDJ > Have you updated to the latest version of iTunes? The engineers found that the accented letters are Latin-1 instead of normal UTF-8. Also, the file format is not the one they expected. Please update iTunes, try again, and if you still have the problem, post your XML file again.

Thank you very much Pulse! i knew you would come true as I've seen many instances that show your quality in these forums! :-)

As I've mentioned before I will never install a metadata risky and RAM consuming application like iTunes on my windows platform. I would do so if i could afford a mac with the same specs (2x Xeon Quad). Just to point out that I'm not 'against' it but as long as I have a choice, choose a technically better solution for my platform.

I use Mediamonkey with a reasonably outdated user developed plugin/ script. This is exactly the level of technical information to answer my question why. And as we've had some discussion before on Windows phone platform, I will not bother you guys from Pioneer/ iTunes with the question how.

I may consider adapting the script or asking for an update that solves this problem. I realize it may be only a temporary fix until iTunes and/ or rekordbox would make an update to new specifications for the file and if they do so, if you don't want me to, I will not bother you again with my Niche workstation and workflow. But as the Buddhist say: knowledge is the path to liberation from all suffering.

I feel more at easy today then I did yesterday. Thanks!

@SKDJ > That's fine, iTunes installation is not a requirement of rekordbox, but you previously mentioned that you had iTunes installed ... have you since uninstalled it or have chosen not to update it?

I've mentioned using Mediamonkey and indeed I've mentioned installing iTunes just to check if it would work then. That was quite a while ago so most likely a different version. I don't need to use rekordbox in the same way anymore because I went back to Serato now. So if you'd like me to check if it works, I will for that sake check iTunes out for testing purpose. But if you don't need my info I'd rather leave it to this.

@SKDJ > The bottom line here is if you are expecting rekordbox to sync with an outdated version of iTunes and engineers have noted inconsistencies with the character sets, your best solution is to update iTunes. If you are NOT willing to update iTunes, Pioneer can't guarantee compatibility and I recommend that you discontinue using iTunes and maintain your playlists either through rekordbox itself or use another DJ application and use rekordbuddy (a 3rd-party application) to sync. You noted in another thread that you're using Serato, so why not use that instead to sync?

Dear Pulse: in version 3.2.1 all problems have been solved! Not only has the crashing stopped after syncing 'my' iTunes playlist a second time (it would work a first time!), not only has it stopped crashing on exit, it also has stopped crashing on opening of the sync manager.

I've just used the sync manager for the very first time! In two directions! After which I was able to exit the program without problems. Big up and cheerio! As I said somewhere else: lots of good to say about you personally! Thanks for being the stayer you are!

@SKDJ > Glad to hear it!

Anyone else still having an issue with the sync, please try updating to 3.2.1. If you still have issues, please open a new ticket (one per person, please don't piggy-back) and link over to this thread for reference, we'll be happy to sort out the issues for you.
