@Eidynstrom > Congratulations on the SX2 purchase - it's a great controller. And don't worry about the learning curve, if you've used any software before, it's just a matter of getting used to the nuances of Serato.
What you have is a license to use Serato DJ, the hardware automatically unlocks that for you. The Flip license is a bonus included with the SX2 (not all units, I think it was a promo for the first X hundred or randomly included?), but you activate that by clicking the My Serato button at the bottom right, then logging-in and entering the serial.
Flip is used to create "remixes" or pre-programmed actions within the software, so you could store an automation (think of it as a recording of the button presses for things like loops, hot cues, reverse, etc) in order to have a "clean" version of a song, or an extended intro (just as two examples).
You do already have a sampler - the SP-6. You can activate that by going into the SETUP, to the Expansion Packs tab, then click the SP-6 Sample Player and tick the "Enable" box at the bottom. Now that it's enabled, when you close the setup, you'll see the SP-6 button at the top left. Clicking that will open the SP6 panel across the middle of the window. There's lots of instructional videos on using that online.
The SP-6 allows you to store entire songs in there, but if you want to create shorter samples, you should consider either finding or creating them yourself, or editing tracks in an audio editor.
