Latest firmware on the decks?
Last night during a bar gig i was playing a track on Player 1 and searching for a track on Player 2. I have an external Hard Drive into the usb on Player 1 and LINK on Player 2. As I scroll with the jog wheel to pick a song , it will not let me do it, and, it has been displaying the "WAIT" logo for about 5 minutes or more. As I see I have less than a minute before the song ends then I press CD(to switch to CD already in) and they freeze. I have to power off/on to get it working again like rebooting. It especially sucks when it happens to the Player 1 because if I turn it off in LINK, everything shuts off...dead air! Is it the External HD, its formatted to FAT32?. There is no laptop. Equipment used..2 CDJ2000 & DJM400, Cat5 LINK cable (came in box), 1 TB HD Passport
I bought these CDJ's less than a month ago.
I have also exported my rekordbox collection to External HD appx 250GB on a 1TB drive.
Please help.

Latest firmware on the decks?
Probably not...
@Pionk 4.05
@Pulse probably not, what?
I was saying that it probably wasn't the latest firmware, but you've indicated that it is ...
Is your Passport drive one of those self-powered units? (No external power supply.)
I'm having this problem ... Middle of a gig Cdj's decide to freeze up ... Bit of a joke when I paid £3000 for a pair ... I'm using a wall powered seagate tb hard drive only ... It's crashed on me on version 4.04 and now 4.05 ... Do the Cdj's not like externals ?? Just small flash drives ?? Any help would be great
It's only when the pair are linked
@Harry > Have you tried using a different LAN cable and double check they are fully connected to the CDJ's?
What format is your drive in?
Tried 3 LAN cables now there's nothing wrong with the ports they have to click in so they are defenatly in properly. Hard drive is fat 32 ... From looking at forums it looks like a genuine fault with the Cdj's. I can't afford to keep having them freeze up on me in the middle of a gig ...
@Harry > Have you the CDJs linked directly with each other or via a ethernet hub / switch?
Directly just what they was designed to do if your not using a computer
Is there anyone on this forum that are pioneer specialists ? Some big help would be appreciated ... I've just had to buy another hard drive because I'm to scared to link them together another £100 on top of the £3000 for what are supposed to be the worlds no 1 Cdj's
@Harry > Pioneer rep here. Same questions apply to you as above; what kind of external drive are you using? Is it bus powered or does it require AC power? Does it go into hibernate mode when not in use?
Using a seagate 1tb fat 32 format mains powered hard drive .. It's constantly in use when I'm doin a gig
Why would the hard drive force the cdjs to freeze ? The both of the machines become useless
Once they have froze up I unplug the LAN cable and they work fine separate but it means messing about with flash drives or now just buying a new hard drive so I don't have to link up ... But I shouldn't have to do this
@Harry > You are right, it shouldn't happen and hopefully we'll get this sorted.
It did happen that when the hard drives went into sleep mode they would stop talking to the CDJs and then they couldn't get the conversation going again without a reboot. This issue was addressed but I just wanted to double check.
Before we go any further, can you update both your players to the latest firmware which was released today.
Can you post a link please ? I shall try it and hope it does work
It's not likely a matter of the firmware version but rather the drives going into standby mode and spinning down. Seagate has a host of tools on their downloads page for managing the drives, including disabling the sleep modes.
i use 2 flash drives ALL the time and don't leave nothing to chance ....
whether it should or shouldn't happen it does so minimize the risk.
Suppose your hard drive fails? then what? you have no backup...
I know what your saying pionix ... But we should have to worry it with such machines ...cheers pulse I will have a look at it in the morning
*shouldnt
