@Vishnu > Was it only the new files you loaded that you were not able to locate and play? (the 9-10 CD's you just added)
What type of CD's were you playing? i.e. Store bought print, CD-R/W

FollowDecks not reading all files
Good Day,
As a mobile dj, I've been using a pair of 900's from late October 2011 and never had a hassle with them till this past Saturday in a middle of a function.
I have converted all my music using rekordbox and loaded them onto a 320 gig portable harddrive (USB powered).
The players were not reading all folders/ files.
It gave the folder/ file names but it was indicating that the files were "EMPTY".....which never happened before.
Most of the folders are on mp3 format.
Just last week I loaded about 9 to 10 full length cd's in WAV format onto the portable hard drive.
Total music files comes to about 105 gigs of music.
Due to it not reading the files, I tried using CD's saving my skin a bit....but it gave me a few problems also.
The decks took long to read the CD (understandable coz not rekordbox format), and also froze for a bit....screen gave the hour glass id & indicated "WAIT".
Had to switch the unit off to be able to eject the CD on 2 occasions.
Fortunately I was able to have the music continually playing, even though some of the songs were utter sh#t because I skip to the next song & without anyone noticing I was in panic mode because of system problems.
Please advise me on how to rectify the USB problem.

@Vishnu > Just to be clear on things... You have the audio files on your computer. You load them into Rekordbox where they are analyzed. You then go through the options of exporting the files to your portable hard drive. Correct so far?
Had you audio files already on the portable hard drive before you exported the rekordbox analyzed files to it? If so, are you sure you weren't browsing in the wrong database.
Additionally, if they were CD-Rs, in what way did you burn the CDs (speed settings / file type) etc?
@ Foster > Not really. It was other random folders and files. As for the new CD's, they were store bought & I ripped them as WAV files, analyzed them on Rekordbox onto the external.
@Gavin > You are right on the money with process I followed in your 1st paragraph.
No, they were on my PC before exporting to the external.
At the time of posting on this forum, I was so stressing about what happened, I didn't think things through nicely. When I intitially got the 900's & started with the link of the external, I remembered that my music content was roughly 32gigs....and since I don't think I updated an additional 70 gigs of music. When I looked at the external, I noticed a lot of hidden files & a lot of "PIONEER" files...which were quite large.
So of late, I gave the external to my local disco equipment dealer, who is also quite clued up on IT stuff, to have a look at. Will let you guys know the out come later today or tomorrow.
Oh by the way, will the Rekordbox analyzed audio files read faster on the CDJ400's....just out of curiousity???
Rekordbox is not compatable with 400's unfortunately,
@ Pionix > thanks
Well to fill you guys in, i found out that my external harddrive a spyware/ grayware virus, which caused the whole complication. Fortunately it was not serious & my mate cleaned it and re-formatted it...deleting everything of the external and I had a safe backup of all my music. Ran it through a few virus scans, just to be sure.
Now, I sort my music out in folders starting from A - Z, with each letter containing sub-folders containing the various artist name. eg. Folder A -> sub folder Adele, Akon, Alicia Keys, Andrea Bocelli....
When I am analyzing each sub folder & then export it to the flash drive/ external, I keep getting an additional folder - "Pioneer"....which seems to be hidden (not sure). In that "Pioneer" folder, there are 3 subfolders..."Artwork, Rekordbox & USBANLZ".
Please forgive me if this is a stupid question, but is that "PIONEER" folder important. I mean, I looked at that "USBANLZ" folder, and it contains a sh1t load of subfolders with PDF type doc's in each folder.
As for the "Artwork" folder, it has well...artwork of the album & stuff.
I am sure, the 900's wont be able to display the "ARTWORK"....unless one is using traktor or serato (I'm assuming)
@Vishnu > That's great you got it sorted out! Thanks for updating the problem and solution. :)
Yes the "PIONEER" folder is where all of your Rekordbox Data is stored. It contains all the artwork as you mentioned, the waveform of each track, and any hot cues/hot loops and memory points you saved. Make sure that folder is always on the drive and is never changed, edited, or tampered with. :)
@Foster> thanks so much for your guidance. It is much appreciated.
Since it is imperative that the "PIONEER" folder is on the flash drive/ storage device, after all tracks are analyzed...may I ask 1 more silly question.
As the "PIONEER" folder is not to be tampered with, if need be, am I able to reshuffle individual tracks.
Say for example, I analyzed a number of tracks & notice a track was in the wrong artist folder....can I just move the track to the correct folder without needing to starting the whole process again.
Forgive me if these dumba$$ queries....just want to do things right. Unfortunately in the city I live in, I am the only 1 that has got 900's or even using rekordbox....so dont have anyone else locally to ask these questions
@Vishnu > If you move the file location, it will not be able to locate the file anymore since it is not in it's designated directory.
The best way to move tracks into different locations, would be to:
1. Remove the track from the device via Rekordbox.
2. Make the changes in your Rekordbox database on your computer.
3. Re-export the track from Rekordbox to your device, once you have it in the final desired location and all info updated.
No question is a dumb question here. :)
@Foster> Thank you sir. It is much appreciated. Ok so now I will start over which will take a while, but well worth it.
