[SOLVED] cdj 850 driver issue

i\ve plugged the cdj 850 to my laptop running windows 7 64 bit rather then installing the drivers first and plugging it , which resulted in windows 7 automatically installing random drivers to it that doesn't work . now the only way for me to change the drivers with the pioneer ones is to select update the drivers segment from the driver settings but that option only works with an .inf file and the driver provided on pioneer website is an executable file . Tried unpacking the driver pack to see if theres an .inf driver inside but no luck , there are only .dll files . I tried to uninstall the driver and install the pioneer drivers but didnt work . tried turning automatic driver installation off from registry but that didnt work either . i feel like the only way around is finding the drivers as .inf . Just read the manual for cdj-850s and it states that i should first install the executable driver pack then connect the cdj850 and if i do it other way round i could experience issues . called pioneer uk support centre and the guy has no idea at all . does anyone have any idea ?

Connect the player, open your device manager and uninstall the device from the list.  Install the Pioneer drivers, reconnect the player.

I didn't say uninstall the Pioneer drivers; you need to uninstall the device from your system devices panel so the generic drivers get uninstalled.

yes i know you meant uninstall the device from your system  , thats why i said uninstalling the device from your system devices panel don't work . Obviously you havent got first hand experience on this so you are trying to create solutions , which i have tried already . I even tried disabling automatic driver installation from the registry but no luck . Seems like the only way is to find .inf drivers .

@Bilen > You are correct in that I don't have experience with your specific situation however computers are what I do when I'm not wearing my DJ hat.  I read your original post where you said you "uninstalled the drivers" but that was ambiguous as to whether you had uninstalled the Pioneer CDJ drivers or the generic drivers that had installed themselves.

I'm going to flip my machine over to the 64bit install of 7 to see if I have the same issues when connecting the 850 for the first time.

Quite the opposite; everything worked exactly as it should; I even tried breaking it on purpose and was unable.  We haven't heard anything back from the engineers either, sorry.

so you connected the cdjs before installing  the drivers on a fresh windows installation and it worked fine ?

in my case once windows automatically installs some random usb driver to it which doesnt work properly you just can't revert or update those drivers for the correct ones because the driver installation is made from an exe file . To update the existing driver which windows 7 installed you need drivers in *.inf format .

@Bilen > The engineers have passed along the following information to us to provide to you:

First, PIONEER CDJ Driver is provided only with .dll because CDJ-850 works as a standard audio device, and utilizes the standard audio system driver that Windows provides.

Next, connect CDJ-850 to his PC, and press PC button on the CDJ-850; then, on his PC, use the Device Manager, and look for PIONEER CDJ-850 under "Sound, video and game controllers" section.

It should appear there.

-- If it does, try either "update device software" or "uninstall"; then, disconnect CDJ-850, and try to install PIONEER CDJ Driver.

-- If it does not, CDJ-850 may be listed as an Unknown device under "Other devices" section or somewhere with ? icon or ! icon. If it is the case, the standard audio driver of Windows may not be properly installed. To see if the standard audio driver is problematic on that particular PC, try another PC. Do not forget to press PC button on the CDJ-850 when using the Device Manager. If CDJ-850 is also listed as an Unknown device on another PC, we should suspect defect of the CDJ-850.

Please let us know how this works out for you.
