Deciding whether or not to purchase CDJ-850k.

Hey everyone,

I'm currently in the process of deciding on my new setup and was hoping I could receive some personal opinions.

Firstly I am quite keen to go for the CDJ-850k players but am wondering if they are going to be outdated

anytime soon and as this will not exactly be a cheap purchase, if I should hold off.

Also when I mean will they be outdated I do not mean by a product e.g. CDJ-2000 that of which is higher

up in price range, I am speaking about products of this price range.

Thanks.

As the 850k's are one of the newer products and the 850 only being 1 year old i doubt this very much,

you will not get any information here on what's round the corner as nothing is ever released until its ready to go.

i personally have 2000's but i have just been with a friend to purchase his 850k's and he couldn't be happier with them,

if they fit the bill then go for it,

Oh only 1 year, I had the idea that they were released much earlier.

Thanks for your response I'll keep what you've said in mind.

If they're what you need now, then you should get them.  If you think about it, anytime after the product is released, the NEXT product is being designed and prepared for market, meaning the current model is bound to be replaced at SOME POINT.  But if you keep waiting for "the next model," you'll never own "the current model."

Yes I understand already that technology is constantly being improved upon

it was just the fact of wondering if Pioneer was close to the release of something new it would be personally worth waiting for if it was only 1 month or 2.

Thanks for your response also.

I'm still on my 1000 Mk3's and DJM 800 , and i guess i'm fine with them :P and at alot of clubs and private dj's arround here are still stuck with their 800mk2 and 1000mk3's... They arent outdated here and 5 years is alot of time because the 1000mk3 is from 2007?  so yeah all pioneer players last atleast 5 years They won't outdate before i guess.

And quoting pulse on that one , Since easier firmware updates players will stay longer i guess , Look at the CDJ 2000 it's pretty the best thing you can imagine except some firmware bugs then , But since easy updates No problem!

Hey, Apple just announced new laptops.  If you bought one last week, did you buy it because you wanted / needed it and couldn't wait any longer?

Sorry, we can't discuss unreleased products, even if it's launching tomorrow.

You have clearly misunderstood what I meant.

I already am fully aware of the concept of technology and products constantly being outdated.

What I was asking is if something were to be released quite soon.

Fair enough waiting yearly for the best product and not buying it is pretty silly but

if a product was to be released withing a month or even a week, I would clearly hold off

buying a product as that is not long to wait.
