I can play Grand Theft Auto on my 3 year old $300 Iphone 3GS but i can't get the waveform to zoom on the $2000 cdj2k mk1 because of the HARDWARE!!  Seriously....

If these functions work  in Cdj 2000 when 2000nexus is connected via LAN, They will work without connection with new nexus, and no new hardware need. <<<

Did you read the postings in this thread?

There are No New Functions on the CDJ-2000 (MK1). Just the Nexus has new functions. And these new functions are availiable on the Nexus , only if he works with an other Nexus or a MK1 with the new Firmware. But not if you connect a MK1 with an old Firmware to a 2000 Nexus.

Means:

2x Nexus and 1x MK1 with old firmware works like 3x MK1

2x Nexus and 1x MK1 with new Firmware works like 2xNexus (with his new functions) and 1x MK1 (without Nexus-Funktions).

It doesn't matter what you do - The 'new Nexus-Functions' are not availiable on the MK1.

And yes - it sucks...

@Sonare and followers: Please just accept that this update was to enable the functions of the 2000Nxs (as listed in the update) to be used on the 2000Nxs when connected with a CDJ900 or CDJ2000mk1 via LAN. If you have read the other 90-odd posts in this thread you would realise these functions are not available on the 900 and 2000mk1, even if they are connected to the 2000Nxs and it has been explained numerous times that this was never the intention of the update.

I'm sure the people at Pioneer have learned their lesson about providing clear public announcements.

Just enjoy your players for the reasons you bought them and allow those who are having legitimate issues with v4.20 fw to raise them without being lost amongst other posts.

Sure it's irrelevant to the subject but most of the new features of the nxs can easily be implemented for the mk1 since it's just software and not hardware features

I personally think the only thing that the only hardware limit would be memory, I am sure the minimum amount of memory is put on te players for FW storage and the new added feature may bulk the fw size up to a size that wont fit on the mk1's memory chip. Of course it's just a guess, I have no clue what size chips they use, But i would think in a $2000 player there should be some decent memory in it IMO

Hopefully some smart dude will do some reverse engineering and make it possible to load future firmwares into the mk1

i read all comments, and don't find the answer from pioneer that this functions are impossible on on cdj 2000. I think for people who pay for cdj's 1700 eur deserve some new functions like in new nexus. 

Pioneers strategy is to leave the cdj2000 bad for pushing the people to buy a nexus.

But there are some points that they maybe don't realize:

1. Most of the buyers of a nexus are upgraders from controllers or older cdjs like cdj1000 - They will buy it anyway they don't care about the updating cdj2000 thing.

2. The cdj2000 owners will not buy a new pair only because of some new features. It is too expensive.

3. If a cdj2000 user sells it at ebay and buy a new nexus the sold used cdj2000 maybe foreclose a sale of a new cdj900.

So the sales will not rise the way you maybe think if you leave the cdj2000 bad. You only produce frustration of the users and maybe lose them to competitors and you produce an inflation. The worth of the products (and so the acceptance of the brand itself goes down) - [EDIT]

And by making new products safe with hardware for more than 3 years can save both money and nature. Its cheaper to sell a

firmware than producing new players. Win win situation

I am all for new features too but  in my opinion, you're wrong on this, You bought the deck and the deck has all the features you bought it for, they never promised to give you more then what came in the box. If I bought a brand new bmw, and 3 years later the 2015 model added some new voice detection crap, I wouldnt march into BMW and expect them to add that feature on my 3 year old car, and thats $50,000+, not $2000 cd players

And I disagree with you, BriChi, because the promised features are still not working perfect. The players freeze sometimes, MT is a joke, quantized loops from start is not available, and so on... (see my list).

So, they have to fix it first, and then bring new stuff!

I agree with Xador. When you get a new device out of the box it should be working 100% as advertised.  If Pioneer is happy with the devolopment of their cdj2000, I rise my hands up. As for me and I am sure other users will agree, its the end of the cdj era.

@Brichi, im quite sure you could buy a voice upgrade kit for your BMW. I doubt that you would have to buy a new car just to get that.

exactly, you could BUY any upgrade you want for it, I wouldn't expect BMW to give it to me for free, same way i wouldnt expect Pioneer to add all the nexus features into it's 3 year old deck, you can "BUY" the features by upgrading to the Nexus decks

NO! - The reality is that I have to sell my 1,5 years old decks for XX each and get the new features for- XX That means I have to pay to get some new features. XX - Thank you very much...

yes yes yes yes, you would have to, the decks are 3 years old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   just like if you wanted all the new cool features BMW comes out with, I would sell the car or return the lease and buy or lease the new one. I would not expect them to keep giving me add-on features for free. Every company is like this, even Apple with $200 phones, they didnt put Siri on the 4 because then why would anyone buy the 4S

look, I am not defending Pioneer here, i am defending all electronic companies, they all are like this, i am upset too that they are not adding some of the Nexus features to the 2000mk1 being that they are clearly just FW updates like auto loading hot starts BUT again, why would they do this which would take sales away from the Nexus

another example is tv's, I have a 3 year old 52" LCD Samsung, the new samsungs now have all this built in app shit, In my opinion Samsung can flash my tv to have this app but they wont, they want you to buy the new tv

Pioneer however still needs to FIX the 2000 bugs, along with the newly introduced Nexus bugs, so they will be very busy right now, 

I can upgrade My BMW with trim kit, i can upgrade my computer with more ram and hdd

I can put a trim kit on the 2000's too if i want :)

I can even convert My 25 year old Volvo to run on ethanol. iOS 6 works on iPhone 3gs. Why cant cdj2000 get them waveforms?

again, DTM, I agree with you, that doesnt mean they will do it,

and as far as your ios6 to 3gs reference, if you put ios6 on your 3gs there are some features that dont work like Siri, turn by turn maps, etc.... so yes, ios6 will install on the 3gs, but its a stripped down version

I dont know car conversions but would you do this conversion by changing the engine? I would assume yes, In that case, change out the insides of your 2000 with Nexus parts you can order online, its the sam layout, just updated boards

Look, BriChi at a point you are right but also Gerd and other ppl are right too. You compare pioneer with apple or BMW or I don't know with what else. That is not fair for the other companies cause Pioneer doesn't support their products. What make you believe that Pioneer will continue to support the cdj2000mk1?? Since Nexus has arrived the mk1 will be discontinued. Actually if you do a search in the web you will see that they stopped producing it since the beginning of this year. But if I buy Traktor v2 for example I will be available to download v2.5 for free and when v3.0 comes out I will be able to download it for some money but not the amount of money that I firstly paid to buy it. This is the real meaning of the word "upgrade". When you talk about cdj2000 upgrade you mean I have to go and buy the new nexus. That is not "upgrade". That is "buy" a new player.  Same goes for Apple. I fed up reading about the siri. The iphone 4s might have differences with 4, but then again its still supported from Apple. I hope you get my point.
