For me, I use RB on my Macbook, 2 cdj2000's and and DJM900 all connected through a Linksys 5 port switch, works fine link wise, the bugs and issues otherwise are all issues with RB only, has nothing to do with the LINK

FollowHigh Profile DJ events. Where is the music library? How is it connected?
I've always been a stickler thus far about using a simple USB stick when playing on the CDJ-2000. Simply because of issues I've read about some issues connecting them to a router and having freezing issues.
That just kinda made me want to be cautious. On Youtube where you can see recorded events from big DJ's and the setup is usually at least 3 CDJ-2000 units with no USB stick on either. I can only imagine they are connected to a router or something stable enough that doesn't freeze up to allow them to have a large library of music for gig. Can someone enlighten me on how they are setup. How it is ensured to be stable and not slow for browsing/loading up tracks? Is it a router that is connected to a hard drive or is it a ethernet connectable hard drive?

Yes I noticed they do not use Recordbox.
Ahh this is why they setup the Nexus. That and no one wants to be looking at a DJ behind a laptop perhaps?
If they use the djm2000 mixer, that has the switch built in so there's no need for an external one.

John Digweed uses SD cards typically. I have seen him use a USB drive, but I think he likes the security of the SD since it can't be snatched out of the player like a USB drive could by an overzealous fan looking for some exclusive tunes.
I watched James Zabiela finishing preparing his set on his MBP on stage right before he went on, exporting to an SD card.
the last few times I saw sasha he used 2 USB drives.
They all seem to be linked together.
What is MBP ?
lol mac book pro.
Well excuse me for not being an Apple worshiper!! I kidd i kidd..
Can you connect an external drive to a router via built-in USB connection on the router or built in ethernet port on the external hard drive and share that drive between the players without Recordbox?
SD cards but people like Hardwell/Nicky Romero use USB drives alot...
@movingzachb, lol I was kidding with ya :D
I tried doing what you mentioned but my apple wifi only does printers usb and not share drives.
Just make sure you buy a router that allows hard drive sharing. It may work and it may not work. I say just plug the damn hard drive into the cdjs and call it a day. if my router goes out, so does your music.
@Painless Wolf - it dont work with my setup... my laptops can see the drive but the cdjs cant even thou they are on the same network.. it think pio have somehow created a private network so they cant been seen or shared in this way.. including looking for a drive plugged into a router. RB + ipad/phone using the apps will be the only way to tap into it all.
ive had one issue (crash) in the last year using the a small 5 port switch to the other cdj & djm900 nexus - so i class this as very reliable.
i always plug my usb dive into left deck and share across.... i also have backup sd cards in the slot ready to go if the link should fail.
You need to segregate your pioneer equipment to a separate network, just as we always have with the 2000s. They use a propitiatory network protocol to connect to each other, a DJM mixer, and your laptop(s) if you desire and hooking them up to your regular home network will, more than likely, hose it.
If you aren't using the iPhone/iPad wireless connectivity function with the 2000NXS model, there really isn't much utility in setting them up wirelessly unless your music library is located on a desktop computer away from your decks. But as I've always said, if you can hardwire something, do. You will have fewer issues overall. Particularly if you aren't a networking guru. Computer networks are a large part of what I do professionally, so I'm speaking from experience. The simpler the set-up, the better. Always.
Recently, I watched a DJ event in one of the websites and which explains about DJ connections. I have learnt many things about DJ event and the process how to setup with exact details in easy steps,It is really useful for many of them. I think if you want to know more information about DJ events, It is better to try different websites. Now-a-days everything is available in internet.
