Marcus, I am not home so i cannot tet but what happens if you are in CDJ mode and not VINYL mode? After you hit puase to slow the track down does the platter still scratch? "maybe" (and I could be totally wrong being again I cannot test right now), Maybe a workaround is make sure you hit CDJ mode before braking?

Request: Add a "vinyl-stop" function to the settings on 2000 / 2000 nexus
Hi,
I know that this have been up for discussion before but I've reached a point when i really need to write off my frustration!
Scenario: You are at a club with big (or even semi-big) woofers near the booth, and you want to vinylstop by:
- Activate Vinyl mode
- Turn the curve for vinyl-stop to the most right position (or less if you want to make it stop quicker)
- Hit "play" once
- Wait for player to stop the track slowly
The problem with 4. is that in 9 cases out of 10, the the player vibrates so much that it thinks that you are touching the jog wheel, and INSTA-stops the track, making you look like an idiot in front of the crowd.
It happened to me me 3/3 for the last 3 parties, and i even turned off the booth monitors the last time.
Now i have the 2000's with 4.20 firmware at home and it works every time there, so it butch be vibration related.
So this leaves me with no choice but not to use a function that i love, and use often in the end of a set (last track , vinyl-stop with filter)
So please pioneer, since i rarely use the scratch function (read never), can you please provide a setting in the menus that make the player ignore the jog after pressing play?
It should of course be in the same record box profile you set your color and name when exporting to USB / SD
Pulse: If you are reading this, what are the ods of getting a functions like this implemented?
Best regards
Marcus from Sweden

If you are in CDJ-mode the track will just "stutter", i use the function all the time on my online shows and never once have the vinyl-stop failed me. But every time (almost) when i play at the big venues
This function is to emulate the press of the play button on an ordinary vinyl player (Technics 12xx) and the gradual stopping of the motor when you cut the power from it. But instead its like stopping the motor and then slamming the hand on the deck stopping it instantaneously
right, I totally understand what you are trying to do, I use the feature a lot myself but fortunately never in crazy venues with huge bass, what I am saying is maybe in CDJ mode, Not VINYL mode, this wouldnt happen, but like you said, in CDJ mode it will still stutter so that answered my question for you to check
I'm having the same issues ever since the cdj1000's every week. The only thing that helps is to hold the platter on the outter ring with your finger and than hit play. This way the platter won't resonate and it works. I know it's not the best solution but it works...
Ok cool! I'll try that out! But i still want the function ;)
from what i tested:
CDJ mode disables "vinyl speed adjustment", dumb on my part, bad suggestion to try and enable it before braking,
X-treme's idea works, I can press pause and start the slow down and by tapping the side of the 2000 it will stop the brake instantly BUT if I apply some pressure to the outer ring and do the same, the brake completes to a full stop like a Tech1200 would
I had the same problem as Marcus, and now I do so: just switch tempo range to 'wide' mode and decrease the speed to zero by the pitch fader. Everything works:)
Thanks for all the answers!
Madman: Yea, that's what I've reverted back to doing, but its still very irritating :)
I am an old school DJ and I love the sound of the vinyl stop... It's an effect all to itself. With the RMX-1000 connected to my Pioneer gear, you can now have that vinyl stop sound... Just filled out the Pioneer survey. You can put it on there as a request for the next cdj... They ask what features should be added and taking away... I wasn't really sure what more they can do with the cdj?? I said a touch screen. I think it's safe to say that we are at the end of the CDJ importance.... When I see a DJ show up at a club with a Kontrol X1 and a Macbook and rock a club.... Why will the clubs or future djs spend all that money on Pioneer gear? I think we are entering the DJ controller era.... And I think Pioneer knows it also... Hence DDJ-SX. Maybe if they cut there price's in Half the CDJ's would stay around longer?? But not at these prices.
Taken your ideas, added them to the list of suggestions. Thanks you all for your contributions.
When you want to do this brake effect just push and hold the top of the platter and you'll get the same effect without having to press play/pause
