[SOLVED] CDJ900 Auto Cue / Using Vinyl Mode

Hello,

New to this forum recently bought myself 2 CDJ900's booooom!

Started using them and 99% perfect apart from a very specific problem i'm experiencing.

I used to use CDJ1000's with auto cue on and vinyl mode. My personal preference on using CDJ's is to press play and use my hand moving the platter back and forth just like a real vinyl deck. Sometimes I would release the record too early sometimes too late, but it would still play from the start and it would be a case of pulling it back (or forward) into time with the outer wheel.

However...

Using my new CDJ900's, same settings Auto Cue on and Vinyl Mode on, I do the same process BUT, if I release the track too early, just before the first beat of the song, the track will not continue to play and just stays put at the start of the track.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me to get my new beloved 900's to behave like my old beloved 1000's???

Thank you in advanced

Luke

Once you press and release play it shouldn't stop. I use auto cue and vinyl mode. I use cue and the pitch fader to get the beat match then when I'm ready I press play. I use files analysed in RB so the track always load on the beat

@Luke > Yeah, it shouldn't stop playing. Could you make us a quick video to explain exactly what you are doing just so we can be sure we understand you correctly?

Hi both thanks for you reply, after scratching my head for a few days I realised where I was going wrong. When burning CD's off to mix with, if you have no gaps between tracks releasing the track at the correct time can sometimes be a bit "sticky" if that makes sense, as its going back into the previous track and not playing through to the next, (this all sounds very confusing if you don't have this problem I know) but if any one is experiencing the same problems, simply add a 2 or 3 second gap between tracks.

@Luke > Glad you got it sorted, thanks for letting us know. Can I ask why you still use CDs? (I'm not bashing you - I'm just interested to hear why you're not using other media).

To be honest I'm not really sure. Haven't had these long and previously had one CDJ800 and one CDJ1000 so naturally as soon as I jump on them I'm burning CDs. I did try to use USB how ever the songs wouldn't load? And as for other media types I'm not really sure what my options are? I know I should probably be looking at the instruction manual but it's all a bit baffling to me! I'd rather talk to someone to knows!

@Luke > No worries - thats cool. To play tracks from a USB stick, ideally, you would also want to be using rekordbox. This helps prepare your playlists / track information / hot cues / loops etc.

You'll need a FAT32 formatted USB stick. Then its just a matter of dumping some MP3 / WAV / AIFF / AAC files on there and away you go - its really that simple and infinitely easier than burning CDs!
