hm..I was just about to buy these players. But after reading this forum about the cdj-850:s i'll think I stick to my gear I have right now. Not fun reading at all. :(

Follow[CLOSED] Firmware Update for Fixing Loops!
any new firmwares coming soon to fix the looping problem, its really not nice paying all this money for some cd player that cant loop properly! and i wont use software, its not a solution for buying such expensive hardware!

"Please refrain from bumping the thread. The information has been requested, I'm awaiting a response."
And the response is ?
I have a few threads started about the waveform as well as some error that is triggered with a valid mp3 tag.
The initial response was fast but when asking where to send the mp3's to... deafeing silence.
@Roeland > Please post a download link in your own thread (DropBox or whatever service of choice you wish to use). Or alternatively, you can email me - its gavin(at) mixaddicts (dot)(com)
Gavin. oobviously I cannot post a link to dropbox -- the track is from beatport -- this would allow other people to fetch the files too.
I sent them to your address via wetransfer solely to have the cdj850 f/w debugged w/ regards to the e8305 error. You can also use my address
directly to discuss/forward/test firmware as well as start looking at the waveform stuff. I would appreciate it as the functionality is really not workign the way it should.
Got it, thanks. Will investigate and report back to you.
I like how @Gavin said not to bump this thread yet an off topic comment about waveforms gets his reply and apparently he seeks to fix it. He clearly ignores what this thread is about 37 comments later.
BTW waveform bugs and concerns were raised 2 YEARS AGO AS WELL.
Nothing has been done. Just small talk BS
Yeah, don't even get me started on the Waveform bug. I honestly have a feeling that they are just going to release an 850 mkII soon and say screw it to all the people who invested in this model. They don't care.
I have the same feeling. In fact, looking at how much of a sh*t show it's been in the forums, its inevitable.
All I can see them doing at this point is releasing a new color a year from now. Gold??
They are leaving the 850's to die hanging.
Scrap 'em.
I tried to analyze my small collection and it's hard to find a reason why it fails at times. sometimes it just fails one works fine, the other unit seems to miss more tracks.
And then, if you go back to the start when it doesn't "realtime" draw the image, it all over sudden shows the part you have listened to..... really awkward.
I seriously hope that it will be fixed. the fact is that cheap ass gemini cdj700's and theyr brothers/sisters do have it realtime. in the future and the past, not even saved on USB/SD as it's not needed. And it doesn't skip sound if you jog in vinyl mode quickly back. Etc.
I just have the 850s two weeks now. It would be disappointing if a mkII would be released now.
been waiting too too long, need an answer, asked nicely and politely, sorry to say this but WHERE IS THE FLIPPING FIRMWARE!
CDJ-850 Looping Accuracy
The CDJ-850 looping accuracy is currently as good as can be achieved within the current product’s design and structure. Therefore we regrettably can’t achieve tighter looping with a firmware update on this product.
rekordbox Grid Information
The CDJ-850 is not of the specification level to precisely read beat grid information from rekordbox. To achieve this specification, the whole product would need re-engineering, so it’s regrettably not possible with a firmware upgrade.
So basically what you're saying is that Pioneer regrettably sold everybody faulty products, and now that they have sold them they refuse to do anything about it. Well thanks for nothing. This is so unbelievably aggravating and the utmost poor taste of business ethics. You sold how many millions of units at 900 dollars a piece without designing a product that can be perfected. I will actively detract people from buying pioneer products forever.
The looping issue is one thing, that can be overcome with DJ skill. The Rekordbox issue is completely unforgivable. Pioneer should give a credit to every single person who bought a CDJ850 for a denomination amount.
nominal*
The CDJ-500II had a resolution of 75 frames per second (standard redbook audio spec), or 0.0133s / 13.3ms. I was able to set near-seamless loops and even if I was off by a frame (or ten) when setting them manually, I was able to adjust the size and correct the speed in order to achieve loops that sounded how I wanted; in sync.
The CDJ-850 is not the CDJ-2000; it will not have the same level of accuracy as it was not engineered to that specification, nor should it be expected to achieve the same performance even if it shares the same rekordbox architecture.
As Gavin posted above, the engineers investigated the complaints and worked to create a solution, unfortunately they found the accuracy the users were desiring was not capable of being achieved within the existing hardware.
No credits or discounts will be given as the hardware and software operates within design specification and tolerances, even if those result in occasionally undesirable loop inaccuracy.
