If you press the loop menu button you can instantly jump into an 8 bar loop or any other length
Just a quicky, I quite miss the "hold down" and get the 8 beat loop from the 2000 (on the dedicated 4 bar button)
Just wondered if you can look at using the "Loop Out" button to do something similar than the Loop in // 4 Beat
Or cut the amount of time before the 4 beat releases, and maybe hold in for an extra second and it doubles ...
Just an idea to consider

I thought though if you hit 4, and then wanted to jump to 8, it starts the loop over when you hit 8 so you would have to let 2 4's go through before you extend to 8
You can use the loop menu without starting a 4 bar loop or pressing in/out, just press the loop menu button ;)
right, I guess he was trying to avoid the loop menu and just set the 8 bar on the fly without having to hit loop menu first
I like the idea of an 8 beat loop on the fly idea. I rarely ever use a 4 beat loop. They are always a 8 beat loop.
Hit the 4-beat loop, hit Out, then hit 8-beat loop on the strip.
Gavin, that will still start the loop over though from the original "IN" hit, the only way to extend a 4 to 8 loop from the IN without it jumping back when you press 8 is to have quantize on, then you can hold IN to set the loop and quickly press 8 without it effecting the current loops sound by jumping back
I recorded a video, you can hear the difference with what we are trying to do with quantize on and off, on is the only decent way to do this which is fine with me, not sure what everyone else thinks though
of course though, we could just use the strip and hit 8 first but on the fly, last second, this is the only way to do 8 quickly without having to press "loop mode" first
